Only YOU can prevent wing clippings!

ALERT to all Republic(an) and Shuttle America CA's: Only YOU can prevent your left wing from clipping other aircraft's wing's!! You can learn to "steer and clear" at the same time, it just takes practice!

A razzing is in order after the second incident in a week. What is this, a conspiracy against the Airbii? ;)

See video.

great im sure we will be getting some nice memo about all this.

ToiletDuck 02-25-2008 08:23 AM

The video makes it look like they were on a holding pad for one of the instances.

subicpilot 02-25-2008 08:39 AM

My brother was on one of those flights. He sent me a text msg when it happened. He said they wouldn't deplane any passengers because they didn't want the aircraft to shift and make the damage worse. Maybe someone should have just thrown a bucket of water on one of the planes...:D

I'm wondering what the pavement markings were like where the incident occurred. I'm guessing that not everyone had their nosewheel on a stripe...

Killer51883 02-25-2008 10:26 AM

and everyone calls them guppy killers... they are only going after the airbii

texaspilot76 02-25-2008 12:07 PM

This is sort of odd for Republic. It seems that the E-170 guys are afraid to taxi around another aircraft, even with plenty of room. I have noticed this frequently in CLT even before these incidents. I don't think it is just certain crews, because I see it often. They could have over a hundred yards of room to go around someone, yet they decide to wait. With this over-cautiousness, it seems odd that within a week two Republic aircraft would be involved in this. Kind of ironic.

ToiletDuck 02-25-2008 12:46 PM

Or they wait because they get paid by the hour and want to overblock.

looks like they were in the 30 pad. no markings in there except for RJ deicing. so if a bus was parked in there and the 170 Ca used the lines painted for deice operations...

...oops

PMeyer 02-25-2008 01:23 PM

Been on two Republic flights, both taxied very fast. Dumb.

Just cuz yo' on da centerline don't mean yo safe, yo!

CLT is an accident waiting to happen. The hardest thing about CLT is the taxiing. Nobody knows where anyone is going and inbound ramp and the north ramp don't communicate.

tsween 02-25-2008 01:55 PM

must be the 250 hour guys casuing these incidents

tsween 02-25-2008 02:58 PM

all though maybe the captain was talking on the radio and taxiing while yelling at the 250 hour pilot about how to read back taxi clearances

just jokin

If these guys were former skywest pilots none of this would have ever happened. Superior jet pilots dont make these mistakes.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Man that was a good one. You come up with that theory on your own or did that trickle down from above?

Thats funny :D....leave it to someone to bring back the laws of learning. There are a lot of old Mesa guys at SKW and RAH...well Everywhere I guess because they sure aren't staying at Mesa. ;)

ToiletDuck 02-25-2008 07:29 PM

Sig's from Mesaba I'm guessing he's just trying to stir the pot.

RCA01 02-25-2008 08:30 PM

Knowledge I gathered from a 74 guy... Look at the shadow on the ground and you'll know if you'r going to "touch" wings. Remember, This only works if there is a shadow

HercDriver130 02-26-2008 04:26 AM

learn how to spell.....FRANCIS....lol

Is this guy for real?

thepotato232 02-26-2008 04:55 PM

No. He's screwing with you. I'm sure SKW pilots are no more or less inclined to play bumper cars on the ramp than anyone else.

Koolaidman 02-26-2008 11:23 PM

Well if the SkyWest SOP said run into another airplane, almost all of our pilots would do it. Our captains would rather go around than put the gear down before flaps 20 on the CRJ. I mention this because I have seen other airlines putting the gear down before flaps when it is NECESSARY and you have been slam dunked.

On the bro, the flaps 15 speed is 200 per Embraer. However, for MX reasons I guess, SkyWest doesn't put them in until 180. I always enjoyed the captains who said, "you are a few knots fast" when I would ask for flaps 15. Almost every time, the airspeed indicators were 2-3 knots different!
