So the CFI Chekcride counts as a Flight Review huh? Looks like we were all wrong. Look at this link from the FAA. http://www.faa.gov/about/office_org/.../2008/levy.pdf

Looks like it is not automatic and you have to ask for it and have it placed in the back of your log book as a light review. Wonder how many CFI's think it automatically does and are walking around without a BFR.

I'm still not buying it, if you sent that email to someone else in the FAA, I suspect the answer will vary greatly from that. All that is is one interpretation (a poor one IMO). Airwaves posted the FAR earlier, and it's quite clear to me.
Furthermore, the FAR (paragraph g) specifically mentions that a CFI renewal counts.... the idea that the original practical wouldn't count, but the renewal does is obsurd. I suggest asking an area DE for their opinion.

Exactly, this one letter from one stooge, cannot summararily change how things have been done for years. They need to amend the language of the regulation to specify. Don't hide behind your fancy February 2008 letter, in January, you would still be DEAD wrong, now you are just on life support.

Heck who knows? The FAR is where I went when I made my case to the Chief Flight Instructor. As for the letter, like you said the answer will vary. I tried to look it up on different sites and most of them said that it didn't count as a BFR so I dont know what to believe.

Greenville, MS any info on that place?

belliott 03-12-2008 08:54 AM

Is Greenville rumor or official news?

Blueskies21 03-12-2008 10:12 AM

Nothing in company email, no requests for permanent base volunteers... I'd say it's a complete rumor. And for my two cents Airwaves seems to like to stir the pot...

I'd have to agree.

Just found out that I got awarded CLT!!! Only took a few months to get.

The only thing I know about Greenville is that we are sending the A/C down there to be painted.
