Hick captains ... you make it sound like a bad thing. Just not citified and cultured like you or can they not fly to big airports or lack skill or experience? Could you be a bit precise?

I think we were at the same one... Dallas right? I was the guy in a dark suit and a whit shirt lol. Any way, My buddy was there recruiting for AirTran and alot of the Flyi guys were in line there. I think the low time guys (realative to the industry) are scared and jumping ship. Also no commuter can hold onto their Capts. long when Jet Blue and the like are planning so much expansion. This is a shaky business and if you cant handle the ulsers with a few Tums then I recomend McFlipin the burgers, you are smart enough to make management and there's more money in it not to mention stability. Pinnacle I think is just as likely to fold as ANY one else. I hope to get on with them soon my self. If the go under then I'll move on, if they dont then I'll make CA and then move on. That's just the way this business works.

Try this web site. The procedures are Mesa specific, but the systems are valid for any CRJ 200.

Default upgrade time.....

Here is why the upgrade time shows less than one year. Back last April they were hiring street captains who had experience in the CRJ. I know this because I had an interview lined up to go there for just such a position. At the time, I had over 2,000 hrs in the RJ (right seat of course) which is why I was thinking of making the jump. Others from here (ASA) made the jump, although they had no PIC time ion the RJ, just SIC. I declined the interview because they informed me that they did not pay during training nor did they pay for lodging. The lady also told me that they hire you as an FO initially, but with "my experience" in the RJ, would most likely "graduate" as a CA. That worked for 2 guys that I know of here, but is quite a risk to take. Didn't matter to me, seeing how I couldn't go through 2-3 months of training with no pay. That is why you saw the most junior CA hired in April.

I highly doubt that is an actual question they would ask on the interview. First off, why should you know it if you don't even fly that airplane yet!?!?!? They may ask you how AOA changes under certain conditions, which is a trick question in itself, since critical AOA remains the same regardless. I have 2,500+ hrs on the RJ, 3 recurrent ground classes, several checkrides (now that we do it every 6 months) and have never been asked that question, not has it ever even been mentioned what the actual number is. Not only that, it's not published in any of our manuals. If it is, I'd be extremely surprised.

I'm not sure I ever knew it either. My answer on an interview would be: "shortly after stick shaker"

We don't have an actual AOA indicator...the AH on the PFD shows angle to the horizon, which is not necessarily the AoA.

How can you jump ahead in the seniority list? Don't you bid like anyone else, and isn't your seniority strictly based on your hire date?
