I was in the last class at AWAC to get 12 four hour sim sessions for you and your partner. They went to 10x4 hour sessions with the next class. The reasoning was that if you can't figure it out in 40 hours, you won't figure it out in 48 hours. The sessions actually were 6-7 hours long with pre and post brief. Even though its a big step from a Seminole or whatever to a CRJ/ERJ you HAVE to put in the extra time and effort to figure it out. The instructors will spoon feed you to a point, then you're on your own. The sim is not that hard to fly if you have solid instrument skills. Memorize and chair fly EVERYTHING.
I hate to be harsh, but that's how I saw it during training. I lost sleep, gained weight, stressed out, and felt like I wasn't going to make it. You cry yourself a river, build a bridge, and get over it. I am a month into flying reserve, but still treat every day in uniform like I am taking a PC. Don't let your guard down.
