Cool Kase

Just saw Aspen Airport Ops getting all the markings on the ramp ready. Sounds like Shasta will be starting proving runs onI April 4th (?)
I wonder if they will plan to circle 33 and what approaches they will be authorized to shoot.
The Q-400 is just a bit shorter that the 700 but its wingspan is longer. Looks like all the parking spots will be moved west at least 5 ft. so the ramps will not get hit by the wing.

Actually the Q400 in 1'1" Longer than the 700. Big issues on the ground will be the 28' wheel spread on Aspen's taxiways. Though I've not personally been there, word is the first pilot to try and taxi around on the lead lines will quickly find themselves off-roading the Q. Of course they have to get there first, and yes they did fly the plane to Aspen today, not sure how it went or what exactly they were doing.

I am sure that will be an issue. The Q looked pretty good up there. It took off RW33 and was in the air by A-4. When they started up there is a bit of prop blast that looks like it may affect Pax boarding other flights. I hope they find a good way to cordinate the starts so they don't hurt someone. Are they going to be doing 5 flights a day? Will they overnight?

You guys (SKW) do it to each other and us (Mesa) is ASE as well. That's not a knock on you, as much as it is on the tiny ramp we all operate out of.

On the Q's, if you bring the power levers in to DISC, it changes the blade angle enough to blow air sideways, and nearly fowards. In my dash days, the captains would do this if there was anyone behind us to reduce such prop blast. Not trying to tell the Lynx guys how to fly and airplane, but I didn't think to do this until someone mentioned it to me. Friendly suggestion.

Conversely, if theres a ramper you don't like, you can approach the gate in full disc, thus sending a lot of your prop blast striaght at them. It's pretty funny, especially if the ramper has long hair.
