Knowing him, he shorted the stock and made a fortune.

Music to my eyes...wait. Does that make sense? Eye-candy, perhaps?? At any rate, it's nice to imagine JO shakin' in his boots this evening...

May his dreams be haunted by all those Pilots he's broke-down in his miserable existance in the Airline business.

No matter what happens, he will emerge wealthy.

Wow, I can buy a bottle of Mad Dog 20/20 or two shares of MAG stock.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I'd rather get a cheap buzz form a bottle of the barrel wine than take a chance on a bottle of the barrel company with that guy at the helm.

The Duke 04-03-2008 01:56 PM

It's almost like we lost a codeshare agreement or something...

Yeah, but that news broke 3 days ago....what has happened that we don't know about that the insiders do?? I'd be curious to see if JO and the others in the know sold a bunch beofre the drop today?!?!?

ExperimentalAB 04-03-2008 03:01 PM

Didn't JO purchase a boat-load of stock just a few months back?? Must have lost a ton - unless, of course, he's been pulling a Martha Stewart...

Two of Hawaiian Air's main competitors just went out of business which gives them much more leverage to put their limited resources toward competing with Go! in Hawaii. Might be part of it.

Holy Mozez!!! Its down to 1.41!!!!! I have gotta get out of this gin joint.

BTW, the lowest MAG has ever been was 1.38 on Sept 28 1990. Wow. SKW was 1.10 on that same day... 20.99 today. The highest SKW has ever been was 32.84 on Nov 11 2005; MAG was 23.50 on July 4 1993. Since Feb 10 2006 MAG has been in a steady decline from 12.14 while SKW has been hovering between 20-28 since OCT 2005, and on the increase since Feb 2003.

A 10K investment in SKW on 28 Sept 1990 would have made you A TRUCKLOAD of money especially considering the regular dividends payouts over the years. MAG on the other hand, well you'd be right back where you started from... no reports of dividends...

MAG
http://finance.google.com/finance?q=OTC%3AMESA

SKW
http://finance.google.com/finance?q=NASDAQ:SKYW

Ok... PLUS, SKW bought ASA and nearly doubled in size while MAG has floundered and shrunk in size to the tune of 300 pilots or so and what, 10-20 planes lost so far (D-8, 1900, and jets)... planning on losing a lot more. OH, BUT AT LEAST WE HAVE ALPA ON PROPERTY!!!! YEAH! GO ALPA! (It just don't have the zing it used to have).

OptimusClimb 04-04-2008 08:14 AM

down 22% today already! i'm glad i got an out!

JetJock16 04-04-2008 08:19 AM

Dear Lord! How low can it go?

ERJdude 04-04-2008 08:50 AM

When you run out of cash in the bank.

A company must maintain a specific amount of Cash On Hand; if they cannot then they lose their certification. Not sure how much this is and I'm sure some can add more insight but I’ve been told that if Mesa pays the $80M+ to Hawaiian then they will be below the minimum amount.

My question is, when are the investors going to start calling for Orenstein’s Blood?

flyboyshell 04-04-2008 09:06 AM

As of 12PM Central - Change: 0.41 (22.65%) down

JetJock16 04-04-2008 09:11 AM

Reminds of a Johnny Cash song:

“Going down, down, down and the flames get higher; and it burns, burns, burns. The Ring of Fire, the Ring of Fire”

PeopleMover 04-04-2008 09:23 AM

I wouldn't be disappointed if MAG disappeared completely!

It will be but only for the jobs lost. As far as Mesa no longer existing, only a VERY SMALL % will even care. Personally I think they’ll be absorbed (probably purchased by SKW or RAH) seeing that if and when Mesa collapses no one has the a/c and man power to cover the flying. This simple fact is what Mesa pilots need to hang their hats on, it's a bit of hope as your company sinks.

I think that Mesa and its pilots paired with SKW Mgmnt is a win/win situation. (Orenstein booted and hopefully band)

blcampbell 04-04-2008 10:32 AM

I read something in the past few days about them having a couple hundred million in cashable bonds over the next 6 months or so.....about half of that available very soon.

I know, my point was more that your stock price really has nothing to do with weather or not you go in to bankruptcy. It is however a general indicator of the publics perception of the companies financial health.

On the topic of shady management and poor product. Read how a shady eletric car company never turned a profit (they turned one in a single quarter due to a write down), only released one vehicle, and its board manipulated the stock proce by releasing bogus press releases. The kick is that they are still in business, because the SEC does not have the manpower to investigate all the complaints it gets. http://www.wired.com/cars/futuretran...6-04/ff_zapped

True and it has everything to do with you companies market value (plus a few other factors).

SuperPilotJesse 04-04-2008 03:54 PM

A couple months back wasn't there a story where he bought a couple 100K worth of stock? Haha.

BoredwLife 04-04-2008 03:57 PM

Dont think JO will be gone. He has wayyyy to many buisness people that he is in with. May not be aviation but he will be around.

I'm still waiting for one of his $19/hr B1900 FO's to knock up his wife or daughter. Wouldn't that be great! LOL!

I guess you can say that now since you don't have any more $19/hr FO's. :D

At one point in time everyone had $19/hr or less FO's. I was hoping most would read between the lines and see that I meant a 1st year FO on their smallest, most disrespected a/c and apart of their most abused pilot group (B1900 pilot group).

bizlake 04-04-2008 11:53 PM

Just because they are on a 1900 doesnt mean they are trash! come on man! I know you are better than everyone because you fly for sky west but show some respect! A 1900 pilot could probably handlfy the sh#t out of an approach you normally fly on ap.

so when did I call them trash? All I said was they were disrespected and abused meaning by Mgmnt. Man you need to relax and take a deep breath before you read something because you’re jumping to conclusions that are way off base.

If you don’t think that Mesa’s B1900 pilots are flying the “most disrespected a/c (meaning in Mesa's system by Mesa's Mgmnt) and apart of the most abused pilot group (meaning Mesa's pilot group by Mgmnt)” in the nation then I’ll educate you a little.

1. Their TA
2. Often forgotten about when people talk about Mesa, usually one thinks of the Mesa (CRJ & Dash) and Freedom (CR9 & 145's) operations and not Air Midwest (B1900's).
3. Orenstein has been closing bases and shuffle flying/losing flying at Air Midwest for YEARS
4. Air Midwest is either going to be sold or shutdown and their pilots are feeling the abuse because Orenstein doesn’t want the operation anymore.
5. It’s a B1900 which has no FA or LAV and often gets the kind of respect a cab gets. I personally love the a/c as I love all Props, remember that I'm upgrading on one.
6. Etc, I'm sure Current and Former Mesa pilots can add on from here.

BTW, this just an observation added with some facts. I mean no disrespect........EVER!

Of course they can - nobody is arguing that, because apparently it's unsafe to do so in a Jet  Hand-flying an approach makes you a way better (and skilled!) Pilot when in a Turboprop, but it makes you a wreckless cowboy when in an RJ. What a joke. You prop-drivers are my hero's - just remember that!!
