Medical

What regional airlines pay for their pilots 1st class medical? I thought more companies would do this.

I've never heard of any that do either regional or major/legacy. I'm kinda curious now that you ask...

I was talking to the doc today and he said Horizon pays for theirs and wondered why I was having to fork out $100. I know Air Canada and I believe Jazz gets theirs paid and yes I know that's Canada and not the US.

Just curious myself.

It's tax deductable...save your reciept.

AWAC gives us an allowance every month to cover our medicals. Obviously captains get twice as much since theirs is every 6 months.

Will your insurance company cover it?

FlyerJosh 04-16-2008 04:59 PM

ACA/Independence used to cover the cost of FAA medicals for crews until they went T.U. IIRC, it was $200/year for CA, $100 for FOs.

BlueMoon 04-16-2008 05:04 PM

Comair covers your medical...well you still have a 20 dollar co-pay.

king10pin02 04-16-2008 05:08 PM

RAH does as well. once a yr for FOs twice for CAs we get a credit towards a medical.

frozenboxhauler 04-16-2008 05:34 PM

FedEx covers it too. I'm not sure if there is a limit/year.
