Default Chautauqua Plane Makes Emergency Landing

An airline says engine failure prompted an airplane carrying 32 passengers and three crew members to make an emergency landing in the Metro East.

A spokesman for Republic Airways says the plane headed from St. Louis to Milwaukee landed safely just before 9 a.m. at MidAmerica St. Louis Airport near Mascoutah (muh-SKOO'-tuh). That's about 20 miles east of St. Louis.
Spokesman Warren Wilkinson says there were no injuries. And he says earlier reports that the plane had been hit by lightning aren't true.
The plane was part of Chautauqua (shuh-TAH'-kwah) Airlines, which is affiliated with Indianapolis-based Republic.

If they were only 20 miles from STL..why not just go back there?

Can SE Ejets not support themselves

Good job by the flight and cabin crew for this emergency.

The engine failure was probably caused by malfunctioning TAMDAR.

Classic. Man I'm glad we don't have that crap on the 170.

I'm assuming it has to do something with "nearest suitable airport"

also maybe to do with the METARS for around that time saying there were thunderstorms in the area

Does anyone know what the nature of the emergency was?
