IMHO, I wouldn't be surprised if they cut flying with gas so high, but I just hope, for the sake of my many friends there, that they don't furlough.

Rumors run amuck!

There is a May 12th class that is currently in session. I'm hoping someone in that class will chime in.

In terms of not having classes for a while--I was told that ONLY the May 26th class is cancelled. Nothing has changed for the June 9th class.

Lastly, I asked if we would be displaced to the June 9th class, and she would not elude to it, only saying she can only tell me what she knows, and that's that the May 26th class is cancelled.

Im in this May 12th class. The slowdown in hiring has been mentioned by the upper management. They say that they currently have the staffing they need in the pool and are going to slow down the hiring and figure out what the staffing needs are.

My buddy had his May 26th class postponed...he's now swimming in the pool.

i sit next to kfour in class...somebody asked the training director if the hiring would keep up and he said he is not sure that anything can happen in today's industry. which was him just beating around the bush. i know the training department is swamped. in one month alone they have to do 6500 worth of ioe flying. Thats probably about one quarter of the total monthly flying. i was originally in the may26th class but got bumped tothe may12. i m very very fortunate and sympathize with you guys.

Its Memorial day weekend. Thats all.

ChickenFlight 05-17-2008 06:56 AM

My first day of class at Eagle was Memorial day, so thats probibly not it. I have heard from several Checkairmen that the training logjam is very bad. Not enough instructors to begin with combined with AA flowbacks and a general burnout due to industry typical underpayment are leading to shortcomings at the schoolhouse and a shortage of IOE Checkairmen mean they are needing a couple of weeks to reformulate a plan. Add all of this to industry uncertainty and the fact that we are about the only regional not talking about capacity reductions (yet) and you get nervous management.

Stick it out, were still only approaching adequate staffing levels and there is some (not very much but some) attrition still continuing. This is probibly only a temporary hiccup, you can't run hard on full classes for a year straight without some snags.

I like your optimism. The only thing that concerns me is their mention that "the company is reevaluating their flight schedules" in the same sentence as "class has been postponed indefinitely."

I was in the 26th class too.

C'est la vie.
