Finally, security that makes sense. Anyone and their brother could make a fake ID. With a fake ID (or even a real one, taken from a pilot's hotel room or worse...) anyone dressed as a pilot can get access to the secured area of an airport.

Hopefully they will actually be checking the photos to match us.

attn; terrorists, go to DENVER!
etc etc

let's keep this in perspective. cockpit door access, hijack etc. procedures, yeah. keep those to ourselves.

that said, it cracks me up when pilots on these boards thinks that we're somehow privy to this top secret:rolleyes: stuff. as if the terrorist will come to these boards before, say, the TSA website?

This is public information.

So we keep our info to ourselves and anyone else can go to the TSA site !

I am not sure how much better it will be. I cant count how many times a gate agent has told me I am not in CASS or taken over ten minutes to verify that I am in the system. I typically go through security in less than 5 minutes so im not sure how much it will really help.

I would be looking forward to not taking off my watch and remembering my phone and taking out my laptop and unhooking my flightcase and throwing it all on the belt. Not to mention that for some reason my pants set off the detector in BTV and I get searched everytime.

Ok...maybe it would be a little better.

Yeah, I just did my first trip to BTV. I swear they have a super-detector or something. Everything set that thing off. I wouldn't mind crewpass there, for sure.

I know this is just an ID check, but I can't see any opposition to a biometric system. Can't get much more secure than that.

It is. The biometric part is your face. You can make a fake ID with your mug on it but you can't just insert your picture into the database. Sounds pretty secure to me. And it's not like those guys working the exits don't have enough time on their hands sitting there on their stool.

it sounds like they want to check us to see if we are in cass and then let us go if we are. i hope the tsa can do better at using that program than most gate agents

Very good point.

not to worry, by the time it gets passed there will not be enough pax to form a line.
