Pinnacle Gear up for Furloughs

The lastest at 9E is that if the Delta flying is not resolved by July 31, there will be furloughs coming shortly there after. This is crediable info from a management source at 9E. They are currently talking to Delta to work things out and continue the flying but if that goes totally south all bets are off and some folks will be sent home. The better news is that the Union and Management are almost close to a TA that could give 9E it's contract which has been in the pipeworks for over 3yrs. The pilot group is certainly most deserving of a decent contract and it's about time one was laid out on the table. Great work to the MEC for never letting your guard down.

Any word from your source on how deep the furloughs would cut into the seniority list?.......if there were furloughs?

The Federal govt. requires that a notice be given out to anyone who will be affected within 60days. 9E is going to be sending out about 200 letters to the most jnr pilots. Since the 07/31/08 falls within that range. But according to the contract they have at the moment the company only has to give 14day which they have. Letters are going out and should be received. " THAT DOES NOT MEAN 200 PILOTS WILL BE FURLOUGHED" It give the company that option to lay off that many if they need to. They might not even have to lay of 100. They could offer a voluntary furlough first and see how many people take it before they start trimming back. It is all subject to what happens with the Delta flying!!

Here is a list of airlines that could be furloughing in 2008
1. All of them
2. refer to number 1

A management source told you we were going to f-lough? In the middle of contract negotiations? Whoa buddy. Hold yer horses.

It's one thing to post rumors about good things, or quasi-bad things, but posting about f-loughs is not something to be taken lightly. Unless you have this in writing, or have a union opinion on whether it's scare tactics or whether it matches up with the staffing numbers, all you're doing by posting this rumor is spreading fear among the pilots about something that might be completely incorrect or fabricated.

I don't know a single person who thinks we'll be anything but "properly or nearly staffed" if every last ATL pilot gets displaced to our other bases.

So until you have a "union" source instead of a "mgmt" source telling you this, save the scare tactics for later. In fact, management hasn't even posted anything about this, and don't you think they would've done so if there were any truth to this? Since we are in really close contract negotiations?

Or are you already trying to sway yes votes if a TA comes out in the next few weeks by spreading this?

Kind Sir, just sharing what was discussed this afternoon at your companies MEM office. I am not trying to sway any votes for a TA that is on the verge of coming out. The truth of the matter is Delta flying tanks....some pilots will be furloughed. Time will tell. By no way or means would give any info that is not crediable. If i could name my source i would on this public forum. If you really want to know send me a text and I will gladly give you what you want.

How about posting the initials of your "source"?

I am not saying this can't be true, but this seems like a desparate effort to try and start a rumor so you can tell everyone that you were right.

Since when do we believe anything Pinnacle management tells us? (and yes i've also heard this from one of our directors)

If you work for Pinnacle read the latest crew message from planning. We're having to bump up reserves for July on the airlink side because we're understaffed. There are only 112 pilots in ATL. That is between captains and FOs. For simplicity lets say they are split equally between all three bases. So do the math and that's 18 captains and 18 FOs returning per Airlink base.

Control by intimidation folks. This is no different than the "You're fired if you call in sick, fatigued, beheaded, etc." policy or any other memo we seem to get from the top. Furlough? Go ahead. I'll just go wait tables and double my salary. I'm calling b.s. on this one.

If they cry wolf after a great pilot contract passes - then i'll worry.
