No, that is "the whistler"...see page one of the thread. He works gnd/twr in ATL not ramp.

Ramp controller in FLL for those of you that park at terminals 1-3 in his really weird flamboyant voice "taaaango 1 to theee gaaate" cracks me up.
MIA center controller usually over towards the Bahamas that has that heavy northeastern accent sounds like Archie bunker. But he's super awesome and helpful. |
Cleveland in Houston Tower is freaking awesome!
"Hous, Ton, -- Tow, Wer" |
wolfman of NY approuch, props to Paul the Wolfman and his mooney that he cruises around nyc/nj with on weekends. Miss talking to him on 127.60.
|
Guy in MSP tower who called every Mesaba flight "Mesabi".
|
Am I the only one who noticed this is a 4 year old threat brought back to life? Nothing wrong with it I guess, still plenty of good conversation to be had but... holy zombie thread batman!

Boston John! :) Every time I fly into Boston and hear him on the frequency, my day gets that much better.
|
Megan in IAD
|
DTW... The one that says, "You have a fine fine day".
|
Rachel @ DCA TWR :-D
always so charming! |
Is Boston John still there? Haven't heard him recently despite a lot of BOS turns. Not sure if I'm just missing his shift or if he moved on.
|
He was my favorite too! I heard he moved to San Juan Tower. I have not flown down there in a while so I am unsure to whether or not its true.

My personal favorite was the clearance delivery chick in FLL back in '09 asking me to take her with us when I called for clearance back to EYW. Also pretty sure she was flirting with me on ground during a customs-C5 repo a couple days later. Haven't heard her in a while |
DTW Ramp controller who thinks he is Paul Harvey. Good Day!
|
Jimmie north ramp in CLT.

My all time favorite is/was Clyde the IAD ramp tower controller. Good sense of humor, and a nice guy. |
There used to be a guy working Kansas City Center who would say, "Contact St. Louis approach....Schlong!" And you'd respond, "Schlong!"
|
The ZDV controller that thanks every Skywest flight for all they do.
|
That French chick on Martinique Approach...what a voice
|
Surprised no one has mentioned Elaine (squeeky) with LA Center! I always get a kick out of hearing her voice on the radio plus she is always super friendly. She also does voice over work for cartoons and such. Doesn't hurt that she's cute too!

Ankara Annie...

Award for creepiest controller has To go to the heavy breather in DTW Ramp. Always sounds like he's busy doing something lewd up there when he's talking to you.
|
I always get a kick out of the guy that works DFW tower/ground that sounds like he auctioning off your clearance...
|
The Kansas City west sector (salina high, emporia high) controller who sounds exactly like Cleveland from family guy.
Also Amy at dfw ramp. |
My all time vote would have to be "Buzz" in ATL TRACON. What ever happened to him? I once heard him talking to someone in a bar behind me and instantly knew it was him, looks nothing like you would expect.
#2 would be "Rocky" in NY TRACON, don't know what happened to him either, both consummate pros at all times. |
"GREAT DAY, Sir!!" Still throw that out from time to time on the north downwind......
-ACY Tracon- nights back in the day. I think her name was Bonnie - so sweet it made your teeth hurt. Could chit-chat as long as the person on the other end was willing. But a rock solid controller. -Every single one that got me around/through whatever crazy stuff I was tangling with in a plane that had no business being there. |

#2 would be "Rocky" in NY TRACON, don't know what happened to him either, both consummate pros at all times. I heard Buzz retired several years ago. I also heard many Delta pilots were at his retirement party, gave him an airplane photo, etc. It was great working with him. "...and you have a great day gentlemen!" Many years ago (30yrs or so) there was a guy in EWR tower we worked with named Bill, lots of fun working with him too. |
My favorite controller is my son. He works for Chicago Center and does the Bradfords/Benkys. 132.22 I've talked to him several times. Usually he gives me direct Benky and 320 kts. One time he had to put me in holding because AF one was in ORD. But we were the first out, even though there were two others holding below us.
|
I also like the MIA center guy who in the draconian voice says GOOOOOOOD EVENING anytime its after dark to everyone.

The "climb and maintain" Russian chick on DFW approach.

I haven't been there in awhile, but I love the LGA Controllers.
We had a scheduled 2+ hour sit at LGA so we went up to the Tower. I have >15K hours and I was AMAZED at what I could learn from these people. The woman giving us the tour asked if I wanted to join her on freq when she took over Local. I thought, "Not really, I've heard it all, but it seems polite to do so." She talked to Approach, Landing aircraft, Ground, Departing aircraft, Departure AND me with such ease and grace it astounded me. It probably makes me a tool, but I would love to go to certain Towers just to observe. MDW, DCA, LAX, LGA (again - for 4 hours this time), TEB would be cool for the mix of aircraft. I haven't been to DFW or ATL enough to know their airport, but those might be cool as well. I don't know if it would be exciting or frightening to go to PVR, CUN or especially MEX towers. I haven't been overseas, I'm sure they have some fascinating and unique Towers as well... What do you guys think the best Towers to observe for learning and entertainment would be? |

Oh, and after running a sim for 8 years many years ago, I pride myself on my high speed, short approach vectors (if the crew is able) but it ain't quite the same.
I can freeze, skew, double or quadruple the speed, and worst case scenario, no one dies. |

I thought he sounded more like Bruce from family guy Family Guy Ode to Bruce - YouTube |

Off subject, but Captain Ramp Control and Donald the lav-service guy must be friends. Don't go up to the ramp tower your imagination will be ruined |
