The Comair pool

Being one of the guys floating around in the pool, I was hoping I might be able to get some opinions on when Comair might start reassigning class dates. I'm hoping for sometime around the end of the year or beginning of next year, which is probably being really optimistic. I was originally in the 7/21 class, so it looks like I've got three classes in front of me. I really hope it won't take too long after training starts back up before I hear something!

On a side note....did anyone here interview up in CVG on 6/4?

I know, I know...

Hey, do you know if N729CA is still in those Cincinnati Jet Hub colors?

Dog Breath 06-30-2008 04:54 PM

There is a lot of current information on Comair that has already been posted. Try using the Google search feature located on the upper left side of this page.

HR will be in OPS hawking the finders fee every Monday until hiring is com...

Luv2FLY79 06-30-2008 05:12 PM

I chose JFK, AW called me on the Saturday after the interview. I read on here than someone who interviewed on 6/4 got put in the 7/7 class. I suppose we'll be waiting a while to hear anything. As for now, I am going to keep flight instructing and maybe something else with come along, but somehow I doubt it!!!

It was a couple months ago. But if it gets repainted, it can only mean one thing... Comair's getting Q400s!

TristarJS30 06-30-2008 06:45 PM

I'm almost 90% positive it was repainted and/or returned to the lessor.

Yeah, AW called me on Saturday too...really surprised me. I took CVG, which is why I ended up in the 7/21 class. Yeah, I also read that someone from 6/4 got a 7/7 class. Lucky!

Lease return.

CRJDriver 07-01-2008 05:32 AM

The paint was ugly anyway, and Cincinnati isn't a Jet Hub!

asj410 07-01-2008 12:05 PM

Thanks guys for the info on N729CA. I'm a huge dork and I've been trying to update this fleet list that I have for Comair.

What's the latest word on more -700 and -900 acquisitions?

Do you really have to gripe about this? Obviously there are a number of us affected by it and I personally dont want to sift through the 500 page forum to look for info. Especially since half of it is about your new avatar and how you got lucky last night....geez man give it a rest ha!

skyhawk8519 07-02-2008 11:18 AM

so, I was in the displaces 7/7 class but at this moment, I dont even know if i would feel lucky to have "made" the june 23 class. I think that this will all settle out in the future, but at this point I am glad to be instructing. What do you guys think will come of the guys in class now...do they stand a chance?
For all of you out swimming and waiting for work, good luck, I feel for ya!!

There's a good post that was just written in the 500-page thread about the block hour reductions and stuff. Doesn't sound too promising for all of us in the pool. Apparently, the reductions are going to continue through the rest of the year.

And here I was hoping that things would start turning around at the end of the year...

PolishPilot 07-02-2008 12:28 PM

Anyone got invited to MESA interview? hehe...since theyre keeping their contract I guess theyll take the guys who are swimming for comair and eagle.

12fly 07-02-2008 04:40 PM

Does anyone know if they scheduled any further clases for for July after the 7th? I know they've hired people upto the 24th of June. I also heard there were about 60 people in the pool.

Anyone that goes there right now is certifiably retarded and deserves any furlough, layoff they get.

There are 60 people in the pool? When was the last scheduled class date before the pool was opened? I was supposed to be in the 7/21 class, and I figure if there are about 12 people per class, that would put me around #40.

If they order the pool by previous class date, you are probably right. But in these pools, I believe they can organize the pool by flight time, multi time, interview date, whatever they want.

Can anyone confirm that?

When I talked to Art regarding the cancellation of my class date, he said that when training was to start up again they would contact people based on their original class date. I really hope they keep it that way. I'm probably screwed if they decide to base it on total time.

ASJ, what were your times when you got hired, if you don't mind...?

I was at about 410 total and 120 multi when I interviewed on 6/4. After speaking with a bunch of guys at my interview, I managed to find a guy with 800 total...no one seemed to have lower than that. That's why I'm worried that I'd be at the bottom of the barrel if they based it on total time.

I wasn't too far from you when I interviewed; 520TT/27ME.

At this point, this stuff is the least of my concerns. I'm not even keeping my fingers crossed for Comair. I'm pretty sure I'll end up elsewhere before we all get a callback. Anyway, bed time for me. Time to teach more English in the morning /sarcasm (my Chinese students, sighs...)

I had over 630 TT and 200 ME when I interviewed on 6/3....I was told the same by Art that it was based on your class date.

saabguy493 07-03-2008 10:58 PM

It is, it has nothing to do with time. I wish it did though because I have 2200+!!!!!!

Did you do a jet transition course also?

asj410 07-04-2008 02:07 PM

No, although I'm currently flying the Beechcraft 99. Having some turbine time might've helped.

Luv2FLY79 07-07-2008 11:09 AM

I just heard from a friend of mine who interviewed the week of June 25th.....he got the call today letting him know he would be put in the POOL!!!

Congrats to him! Jeez...he must've been one of the last to get interviewed. Now hopefully we all won't have to wait too long!
