First year FO Pay ?
#21
First year pay is a sickeningly low amount of money. Don't even try to look at it optimistically.
What you can do is plan ahead, come into it with some sort of savings, and most importantly, try to get as many days off as possible so you can work at a real job.

Comair had their crew forecasting people come into our class a few weeks ago and stated that with DAL's cutback and loss in the legal battles with Pinnacle and Freedom, that they are looking at about 160 possible furloughs. They are looking at "options" to avoid involuntary furloughs; COLA's, Voluntary furloughs, buy-outs for senior CAs. Who knows nothing I can do about that, all I have to worry about is getting through initial.

I worked alot my first year at eagle (avg about 100 hours a month) and was able to make just over 33k. Got a little more seniority and was able to make 49,500 second year. This was all including perdiem and flying as much OT as possible, but it can be done. Learn the contract.
