commuting suck!

Similar story, but on the back end of the trip. I had my last trip at my previous company that ended the day before my wedding. I had 3 flights on which to get home, so I figured it would be a piece of cake. Wrong. Got ground stopped for 3 hours going into IAH, missed the first two flights, had the third one cancelled, and had to take FedEx home to MSP. Got in around 630a, slept for about four hours and had to get up and look like I was happy to get hitched in about 3 hours worth of pictures. I'm just happy that was my last commute.

I'm a native Floridian, and initially on getting an airline job I was dead set on not moving. I used to do a 2 leg commute from FL...that was no fun. When I changed bases, I bit the bullet and my wife and I moved to the "frozen tundra" last year My commute now: http://www.mapquest.com/mq/8-X25H. Living in base was worth the move, though I know family circumstances, etc might not allow for it for alot of people. CVG is a mainly commuter base for us, and by what everyone's telling me it gets tougher every day.

Commuting does suck and I am glad I don't have to commute to Fres-no from the midwest anymore. On a good day.....1:15 min drive to airport 2 leg commute.....bad day......2:20 min drive (Durning floods in CID) 3+ legs to work! Not as bad as some, but worst than most! Good time to be in training for the summer with positive space.

LAS-FAT is mainline on US Airways...at least until October...and it's usually open, but then again, it was a holiday weekend. Allegiant is also usually open, and the crews will do almost anything to help out a jumpseater. Between the two, I have found LAS is actually one of the best options for getting to and from FAT. Except for the few jet flights, which are almost always wide open, SFO and LAX flights seem to be the worst. On a good note, Eagle is converting all it's flights from LAX-FAT to jets later in the year, so that should make it a little easier to get back and forth from there.
