surprised i didn't read more of the "if you're heart isn't in the military, then a flight job might not be for you" yet....It'd be something to consider, as many posters on here typically say, in the military your flight time is considerably low, and much of your time is spent doing non-flying duties, as a result, it will take much longer for you to reach those major airline minimums, however, when you do, you'll probably have enough connections and quality flight time to get the job.
I'd just worry that if you have no real interest in military flying, or the military lifestyle, that you'd enjoy being part of the service, day in and out, for years at a time. |

I disagree. Military flying isn't the only way to serve your country in a flying job. Aerial Fire Fighting, civilian gov't flying jobs, charitable flying jobs etc.
Who'd I forget? |

Welcome to $140 oil. It will get worse unless this is fixed.
Not one of those airlines was planning this. I got two emails from different airlines today that were up in arms about "speculators," known up until a couple of weeks ago as commodities traders. I guess it is easier to attack an imaginary threat than deal with thirty years of caving in to environmental "special interest" groups. We havn't built a refinery since the 70s and nuclear plants are not much different. We have billions of barrels of oil domestically, but 90% of it is off limits to drilling. Worldwide and domestically demand has increased while production has decreased. It took us decades to get into this mess and there is no quick fix. |
