I am sure that they will grow PDT as much as possible. It seems that they want the WO to all be large as part of their plan.

PSA has 124 instructor pilots and 100 LCA, but is hiring additional sim instructors now for the Charlotte training facility. Rumor is that they want a total of 150 instructors between ground and sims. That seems like a lot, but matches with what has been said about growing all of the wholly owned regionals.

I was told in the interview PDT's training department is currently only able to handle two classes of 10 per month; 20 per month total. They said they're trying to beef it up to increase class sizes.

Yes, that's probably all they can handle until they pump some more 145 instructors thru the pipeline. Rumor is they're looking for another sim.

That was my guess. It takes a pretty big training infrastructure to be able to handle 50 per month, plus provide recurrent training for the pilots currently on property.

They need to get junior guys to become instructors. Maybe like some of the AWAC, Express Jet people coming over need to become instructors. This gives some stability in the training dept. Because right now all the instructors just continue to flow.

Whats the story on the flow? Is it really 5 years as advertised?

victormike 10-15-2016 03:18 PM

Yep, 5 years if you're hired on today. Right now classes are filled through December.

Is that 20/mo through December? are you a recruiter?

GodIsGood 10-15-2016 06:46 PM

5 years if you use massive attrition and assuming all future attrition is only from pilots senior to you.
