freedom closes MCO opens CVG
just heard through the grapevine
Anyone else able to confirm? |
Plausible since RAH moved out.
|
and because Mesa is a Scum Bag Bottom feeding airline that has made this industry what it is. I can't wait to have one of those little kids in my jumpseat. He will get the jump all right, but hear about how much of a bottom feeder no class person he or she is.

Confirmed email was sent out. MCO closes Sept. 21. Feel bad for everyone living in Orlando forced to be displaced yet again.

Bottom Feeder

Please do not start a jumpseat war. There are probably going to be lots of Comair guys trying to Jumpseat on Freedom flights and you will only make it difficult on them when Freedom pilots start denying us jumpseats in retaliation.
Please do not stoop to that level. |

This madness has to stop somewhere. By bringing the insanity into the flight deck instead of leaving it at the gate, it becomes a never ending cycle. While I agree that Mesa/Freedom as an airline is bottom feeding, we shouldn't be taking it out on the pilots trying to get a ride to and from work. Instead, how about showing a little support and unity amongst pilot groups. Someone once told me that an airline pilot's best friend is another airline pilot. I happen to agree with that, especially since this industry is a very small world. That one guy you are denying the jumpseat to could be the person that is on your interview board at the next airline you are trying to get on with or worse -- the check airman on your initial checkride at your next airline. |

oh man you wouldn't believe how true this is. pinnacle has a pilot on a hiring board at a "major" airline. no need to name names but a captain i flew with a year or so ago simply said he had no chance in hell of getting a job there now since he treated that guy like crap as an fo. (and yes he treated me like crap to, so maybe one day i will have the pleasure of shoveling some of it back at him)...
(Disclaimer: I'm just using Comair as an example because I work here and I'm not aiming this post at any particular person, instead speaking in general. I'm sure every airline has their one or two bad apples that spoil it for the rest of the group). |
I would have to agree with RJTrashPilot.
As for the small world comment, one of my colleagues was denied the jumpseat on another carrier due to being overweight (full flight) on a CRJ 200 by 100 lbs. No other passengers or cargo was left behind. According to friends who fly the 200, 100 lbs is pretty easy to fudge. Well, needless to say, my colleague wasn't happy. Fast forward to a few days later, when my colleague was back at his crashpad. Who ends up walking in? The captain that denied him a jumpseat. It was a full house @ the crashpad, and it made for an interesting night with so many pilots from so many airlines seeing a captain who denied a J/S. |
I knew it Freedom is growing looks like this whole court thing is growing there stamina. But yeah I heard the CVG base is going due to the reductions of RAH and now Comair. Hey think us (Comair) can take that MCO base back from them?....nevermind
|
my humble opinion is that it's the company not the pilots that gives mesa a bad name. We sit here working for what we think are better regionals and blame other pilots for mesa buisness ethics. We should be thankfull that we got that interview instead of going to mesa and now we are here it is easy to say "i'd never work for mesa." The pilots at Mesa are just looking for a J.O.B. Perhaps they entered the industry when only Mesa would hire them, some prob have a better commute working for them? Can you really blame them? Those that are married may go to Mesa because they can be with their kids more often due to their bases. Some stay because they have Sen. in the company and don't wanna start over again. It is easy to blame the pilots but it isn't them that for example skrewed Aloha. They are no less qualified to fly an CRJ/ERJ at ASA, Skywest, Comair etc. They all passed their checkrides like we do and many of them had an FAA jumpseater one time or another and passed. Being prior military also, I consider this line of work like a brotherhood. We all HELP one another get to work and find work when times are bad. Look at all these boards, how many times has one pilot told another pilot to PM him to help him out? I fly for ASA and when I can, I try and help out the Mesa/Republic/Airtran or whoever that is going to work, I have taked myself off the J/S list out of Orlando before because I knew I can get on the flight non-rev and let the guy who can't list non-rev to list J/S. We can be our best allies or our worst enemies. Why not be allies? Over all our quality of life would be much better.

Any prior or current bouncers in the house? I'm sure you will see a job opening in CVG soon to ride the bus to the employee parking lot.

So is this how it works now?
Comair opens a base, closes it for CHQ to take over, then CHQ closes the base for Freedom to come in, then shortly after all RJ flying stops and the base is closed. I realize that Comair hasn't closed their base, nor have they cut out CVG, but the circumstances are similar. |
Will all the bashing stop when the MAG CBA is out and "MAG pilots emerges as industry leaders? " same company, same pilots, just a different contract. is that all it would take for go from zero to hero? imagine the possibilities!!

No I don't. You accept one of the worst contracts in the industry when you sign on there and that effects others all around the industry. Keep justifying it however you want if that helps you sleep at night.
I dont even work for Mesa.. I've only worked at Horizon and Compass... I was raised not to look down on anyone because you dont know what they have been through in life. Not everyone is as "lucky" as you and I to dodge the Mesa bullet. What about the guys that tried at Horizon, Skywest, ExpressJet, Republic, ASA and all the others and got turned donw. Is he/she suppose to give up.. If i was ever in that sititution and Mesa offered me a job, I'll be in class tomorrow...You would do the same!!! |
There will always be someone out there with the worst contract and right now it happens to be Mesa.
I love how all these "professionals" get on here and act like third graders. Maybe you guys can just take it outside and settle it like menz. |
you have got to be kidding me about this. delta cuts freedom because of their horrible on time performance. now they are cutting chq for freedoom when we have one of the best on time performance out of every airline in the delta system f^cking horse sh!t

Yes, I did and was at Mesa for a year. It was a HUGELY ignorant and uneducated mistake and if I had places like this website to see what a mistake it would be I wouldn't have done it. My bad. But what really chaps my a** are the ones on here that DO have the information from this site, and others, that its not a smart move but they do it anyway. Then we're all supposed to act cumbaya with everyone because life is all about puppies, scented candles and hugs and "bashing" the ignorant isn't PC anymore. Weak
I just dont have it in me to bash and Mesa or Go-Jet guy...Or anybody, Circumstances makes us what we are.. |
I wonder if the people at Target get all bothered when they see another Wal-Mart being built. Or maybe there are gang fights between the BMW and Ford dealers after hours.

the fact that you actually worked there at some point in your career lowers your authority and credit on the subject of working at mesa. you are tainted, biased material and all that you say has a slant on it that cant be overlooked. by going to mesa even for a year you have become and will always be the guy that you yourself wish to bash. you have the mark of mesa and it can never be erased, for good or bad. at that point in your life you were doing everything, with or without the knowledge, that you now fight and argue against. you were the low time pilot who went there knowing how bad it was. you were the selfish guy who wanted to live in base so you could be with your family. you were the guy who got turned down at other places and settled for mesa. you were the guy who went for the quick upgrade. you were the guy who accepted low pay. you were the guy who accepted a subpar contract. that was you at that time. you cant change it. and bashing guys who did the same thing you did makes you infact a hypocrite. even if you did leave there. you personally helped keep mesa alive for that much longer. embarassing and pathetic i will not bash the mesa guys. they have made their choices and pay for it every day in qol and pay problems. if that is worth it to them for this time in their lives then so be it. |

However, in fairness, the decision to dump the 135s was made during the DL BK, which is about the time Freedom entered in the mix. |

Wasn't based at home, wasn't a 250hr wonder, didn't apply elsewhere (my ignorance), left a month before upgrade...........keep lowering the bar because.....oh, thats right, you're still at Mesa trying to continue to justify being there and furthering the race to extinction. Well done chief. At least I wised up and left.
uh, i don't work at mesa, and never did. i am just pointing out that you are probably mad that you are getting furloughed and you are bashing the other guys who still have a job at a place you used to work at. a place you despise for whatever reason. you probably feel cheated and i can understand that. but the pilots dont make the business decisions. the pilots dont get to choose when an b company will be made to whipsaw the a, or vice versa. pilots dont choose any of that. they make the best decision for their lives based on the available evidence given to them. some feel it best to stay. others feel they had to get out. you trying to act like you know whats best for each individual mesa pilot and their family does not bode well for your arguments. |
