I'm going to see what the lines look like in JFK and try to bid back. Didn't realize that I'd be bidding almost halfway up the list there.
Me too... not to disappoint you, but Iam also planning on transferring to JFK!!:) see you there |

Different note, does this situation sound like maybe there was a mistake - currently I'm an ord emj fo, jan 08 doh, proffer to displace to dfw in either the atr or the emb. I didn't get either, I'm still an ord emj fo. I've got over 200 below me, how did I not get dfw?
Sounds like you must have picked ORD as a new hire domicile. Why do you want DFW now? Just curious. |
i'm trying to figure out how anyone is going to be able to commute anymore with the airlines cutting back flights...i think within the first two weeks of boston closing i'm burning up my commuter clause cards and getting 4 missed assignments...

There were no ORD - FO positions on the displacement bid. ORD had only vacancies. You were not displaced from your current position (either normal or proffer). There were no DFE vacancies. Therefore pilots awarded DFE were displaced from their current position into DFE. There were DFA vacancies, however, you were not displaced from your current position so you can't preference bid from jet FO to turboprop FO.

Then I got there and realized I didn't like the city and if I'm going to not commute I'd rather do it in Dallas. Also I wanted the ATR because I don't like how we can't go from a jet to prop and I wanted to leave my options open. But hey, at least I'm not furloughed yet, so that's good! What do you think the odds are there'll be DFE vacancies in the near future? |
I don't know what the DFE odds are. A few of my DFE friends are now DFA friends...so I'll bet they aren't great.

Not to be a downer, but a lot of people are saying that this is only the first round and things could potentially get bad again in a few months. Of course a lot of people are crazy too. I flew with a guy the other day who thought that Delta disguised the voices of their pilots in the headsets so that you couldn't tell who was who. Random I know, but it shows that people don't always know what they're talking about. If you've got the opportunity to go somewhere else, do that and if Eagle calls you in a few months, awesome.

You can't proffer to displace if you are seat locked. That's why you are still OFE. Since you weren't displaced either you can't vacancy bid for a prop.

There are no seat locks in a displacement bid. If he didn't get DFW EMJ or ATR then it is because more senior people to him got it.
All of it is explained in plain language in the "Displacement, furlough, recall '101'" guide put out by Eagle ALPA. It was sent out in an email on June 24. |
