The Eagle Displacement/Vacancy Bid is Closed - Praise your deity of choice!

Well, by my watch the Vacancy/Displacement bid is officially closed...and I can't wait to see the results. Will I get ORD CRJ? Will I get DFW ATR?

How many people proffered minutes before it closed? The truth shall be known very shortly.

If anybody cares to post their happy/sad results when they come out, please feel free.

meeko031 07-29-2008 02:14 AM

I proffered to be employed!

Haha, just kidding! I don't know you but I'm probably closer to the chopping block than you are.

coldpilot 07-29-2008 09:10 AM

Keeping the fingers crossed for a job and DFW ATR.

:D we'll all be alright... just more sitting time in the form of being reserves! You're based in ord right? Maybe I'll see you there and we can go hunt for gojetters in the terminal....

ha ha the rah displacement bid closes today so im praying to as many deity's, planets, stars, and demons as i can possibly find

Pontius Pilot 07-29-2008 01:20 PM

Good luck on the RAH displacement bid as well!

I'm hoping that I get involuntarily displaced out of SJU and end up flying the CRJ in ORD or DFW...but that was just my first choice. If too many people above me proffered then the story will be a little different.

I'm just glad its over with. I got sick of hearing people talk about it non-stop.

...haha but you're already in sju...what about being most junior stateside on the emj and wanting to go anywhere but sju....

No worries about for SJU for anyone...believe that. So I think you'll get your wish! 27 CA and 12 FO positions being displaced out of SJU and no vacancies...you'll be alright. With SJU having only 33 rountrips a day starting soon they will be at the proper staffing level there.

I think most EMJ guys are in a good spot. Hopefully. Hopefully all of us are at least in the range of keeping employment!

Meatball 07-30-2008 11:23 AM

I'm glad it's over too and await the results. I have a thousand guys under me co-wide and 220 in base so I'm sure I'm safe. But I feel for the junior f/os who can lose their jobs and the junior captains who will lose their seats. It's sad, man. I hate what's happening here even though we're better off than most regionals.

Hoping the results will better than expected!

So are we supposed to have a preliminary flow plan soon or do we have to wait until the 4th to get the official thing? This Sucks!

Unless you live in ORD or DFW I hope you do not get the CRJ. You will be unable to bid back out of it back to a base nearer home.

I'm currently a 2 hour commute from Dallas...and if I got ORD I would plan on moving back to the midwest to be close to the base. Of all the bases we have - only DFW, ORD and MIA interest me. So being at DFW or ORD isn't that offensive to me.

Well, I swear I had an email saying that we would get prelim results by Weds...but that didn't happen. Now I'm hearing Friday. Which I hope does happen. The official results we'll have to wait to the 4th for. And yes it sucks.

But you can use it to play with your friends. I walked into the crew room today and asked if anybody knew anything...and a friend of mine said that the results were out and told me to check my HI44. Which like a dumb-butt I did...and then got laughed at when I told him it wasn't working.

It's a date! I've gotten through many a long day of ready reserve by doing that.

Although I did proffer to be displaced to Dallas so hopefully I won't be there to look for gojetters with you.

I hope the preliminary stuff comes out tomorrow.

it's not HI44, its HI69/displacement/date ... try that it should work. :)

Robsquatch 07-31-2008 06:18 PM

Pontius, let me just say that your a good sport.
all S1 people had been discussing the displacement when you came swaggering in and asked if the bids had come out yet. I mentioned that they had and all you had to do was check the hi44 on sabre. When you came over and started talking about sasquatch being proven we figured you knew we were messing with you. when you left to check the s1 captain mentioned we should tell you no information was an indication of furlough, I just couldn't keep a straight face when you got back. btw i'll be sitting pretty as s3

Pontius Pilot 08-03-2008 10:17 AM

Well, I got nothing. zip. nada. So much for listening to the Union Lawyer.

coldpilot 08-03-2008 10:23 AM

The preliminary came out yesterday. It's on the Eagle ALPA site. Junior CA is SCA 12/99 DOH. A total of 822 pilots were shuffled around. No furloughs. All the flowbacks are going to FO.

rickair7777 08-03-2008 10:28 AM

No furloughs...that's some good news at least.

Me too! ORD is enough to make you throw up. hahe. I'm going to see what the lines look like in JFK and try to bid back. Didn't realize that I'd be bidding almost halfway up the list there.

Funny how the world works. What I wouldn't give to be base at ORD again....

I'll trade you my east coast for your ORD!

yeah, it funny how it works out. I'll trade you base and seat. Hows that sound! Then I can be a CRJ captain, hear me roar.

AmericanEagleFO 08-03-2008 07:46 PM

looks like I'll be DFW fo atr. At least I'll be halfway senior on that. I think I'd rather stay in base in the atr than ORD emj.

BoilerWings 08-03-2008 08:52 PM

I'm glad to hear there are no furloughs. I have a few friends at Eagle and am enthused to hear that none of them will be out of a job.

But the question I would like to pose is that for those of us in the supposed "pool" who were hired and had class canceled, what's the outlook for us? Late winter/early spring at best before Eagle even considers new hires?

Not to be a downer, but a lot of people are saying that this is only the first round and things could potentially get bad again in a few months. Of course a lot of people are crazy too. I flew with a guy the other day who thought that Delta disguised the voices of their pilots in the headsets so that you couldn't tell who was who. Random I know, but it shows that people don't always know what they're talking about. If you've got the opportunity to go somewhere else, do that and if Eagle calls you in a few months, awesome.

Different note, does this situation sound like maybe there was a mistake - currently I'm an ord emj fo, jan 08 doh, proffer to displace to dfw in either the atr or the emb. I didn't get either, I'm still an ord emj fo. I've got over 200 below me, how did I not get dfw?

There were no ORD - FO positions on the displacement bid. ORD had only vacancies. You were not displaced from your current position (either normal or proffer). There were no DFE vacancies. Therefore pilots awarded DFE were displaced from their current position into DFE. There were DFA vacancies, however, you were not displaced from your current position so you can't preference bid from jet FO to turboprop FO.

Sounds like you must have picked ORD as a new hire domicile. Why do you want DFW now? Just curious.

withthatsaid182 08-04-2008 07:49 AM

i'm trying to figure out how anyone is going to be able to commute anymore with the airlines cutting back flights...i think within the first two weeks of boston closing i'm burning up my commuter clause cards and getting 4 missed assignments...

Thanks for explaining that. I knew if I took the time to actually think about it I would figure it out, but it's a lot easier to just have it explained.

Yep, I picked ORD as a new hire. I didn't want to commute so for a few reasons I chose Chicago. Then I got there and realized I didn't like the city and if I'm going to not commute I'd rather do it in Dallas.

Also I wanted the ATR because I don't like how we can't go from a jet to prop and I wanted to leave my options open. But hey, at least I'm not furloughed yet, so that's good!

What do you think the odds are there'll be DFE vacancies in the near future?

Pontius Pilot 08-04-2008 09:25 AM

I don't know what the DFE odds are. A few of my DFE friends are now DFA friends...so I'll bet they aren't great.

You can't proffer to displace if you are seat locked. That's why you are still OFE. Since you weren't displaced either you can't vacancy bid for a prop.

There are no seat locks in a displacement bid. If he didn't get DFW EMJ or ATR then it is because more senior people to him got it.

i bid for the shorts outta krdu but didn't get it....

Proffering to displace is a voluntary bid. Seat locks apply. You can't proffer to displace if you are seat locked and a seat lock is also incurred if you do proffer to displace.

All of it is explained in plain language in the "Displacement, furlough, recall '101'" guide put out by Eagle ALPA. It was sent out in an email on June 24.
