XJT question...
I had a relative fly on XJT today, and he said that after the flight landed and taxied to the gate, the co-pilot made an announcement that the landing was the first landing for that particular captain as pilot-in-command. I thought that sounded weird since XJT has just recently furloughed 100+ guys. It didn't seem to me that there would be captains upgrading at this point in time. Are you all still upgrading captains even through the furloughs?

The most recent upgraded captains finished UOE at least three to four months ago. |
Maybe he just got back from Military service or a leave of absence? Just another thought.

Back when I was an FO, the CA made such a great landing...........the kind of landing where you never felt the mains touch........and afterwards he made this announcement to the passengers:
“Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you for joining us on this short FLT into ATL this morning, we’ve arrived at gate B17 exactly 10 minutes early. This morning you’ve had the privilege of flying with one of SKW best FLT crews. At this time I’d like to send a special thanks to my FO for being such a great "passenger" on that landing. We hope that your day turns out to be as perfect as my landing was.” A senior DAL CA (in his 50’s) waited and was the last passenger to de-plane and told the CA,”that was good; I think I’m going to steal that announcement for the next time I grease it on.” |
