Since Boeing is one of the partners in this jet, I would not bet on your statement.

In addition to the russians, china and japan are also building RJ's.

The chinese and russians have a lot to prove before they can penetrate western aircraft markets...I'm not even sure china intends to seek FAA certification, their RJ is intended for domestic use.

The Mitsubishi model looks like a serious contender though...all high-tech for an emphasis on high fuel-effeciency, including the PW geared turbofan (GTF). The profile is narrow like a CRJ (low drag), but the cabin is designed to be significantly more roomy and ergonomic...addressing the main pax complaints with CRJ's. Stick around the regionals long enough and you might get to fly one of these.

All three nations are building an RJ as a warm-up to larger passenger aircraft, so Bombardier and Embraer are not the only companies confronted with new competitors in the future.
