Well my apologies guys...This information came from a couple of the hire ups in our training dept.
It was explained to me that the 328 Prop formerly flown by AWAC was designed to have alot of very advanced avionics on it....which for its type is true...anyway the 328 was designed to be a test bed for the 728.....which AWAC was planning on replacing its BAe-146 with. Again this was back a while ago...during the United Days.....so anyway...again I apologize....I was under the impression that folks in our training dept were credible....:D |
Double post.

However, I thought I read somewhere that a lot of the design for Bombardier's CSeries was borrowed from R&D that Fairchild/Dornier had done on the 728 series.

It wasn't designed to have them, it did have them. The 328Jet had them as well. There are so many things the 328 had that I wish the ERJ had. VNAV, VHF preview mode, ILS ID, automatically transitioning from LNAV/ALT to LOC/ALT with GS armed when on an ILS approach, REAL FAEDEC's, etc.
Not really sure how a 32 seat turboprop would be an effective test bed for a 70 seat+ jet. Even the 328Jet had some carryover issues from the prop version. One was the autopilot and how it reacted to thrust changes when using VNAV. However, I thought I read somewhere that a lot of the design for Bombardier's CSeries was borrowed from R&D that Fairchild/Dornier had done on the 728 series. Won't even comment on this one. I guess i should have been a bit more specific.....i didnt realize you were going to disect my post The avionics package was put into the 328 Prop/jet for use as a test bed for the 728. Not like it matters anyway because im wrong |
Sounds like many of the nice things on the E170/175/190
