I know an ex-sEAL/UDT (vietnam guy) who swears an HK will outlast and out perform a Glock any day

Yes, I believe and it has been my experience that the HK is a better weapon. However, HK's are double the price of a glock for the equivalent gun. I only recommend buying an HK with the pilot deal only, other than that you are wasting money.

Fwiw, I own a Glock and an HK. Loved the Glock till I shot the HK. I now prefer the HK, no contest.

There is only one reason most people own a gun and for that reason Id rather spend a bit more coin and get the better piece. To me its like the people i used to see that would buy their kid a new dirt bike and than want the chepest helmet we had in the shop! When your life is on the line dont shortcut

The Glock deal is $399 for any of their weapons except the comp. models.
The Glock and H&K are both great weapons. USP for work, a Glock 21 when I am not flying.

If you are in Ohio, come to Vance's Shooters Supplies in Columbus. I work there on my days off. Bring your commercial license...don't even need to be an FFDO. Glock, Smith and Wesson, and Sig Sauer all at Law Enforcement prices for commercial pilots.
