If you are in Ohio, come to Vance's Shooters Supplies in Columbus. I work there on my days off. Bring your commercial license...don't even need to be an FFDO. Glock, Smith and Wesson, and Sig Sauer all at Law Enforcement prices for commercial pilots.
I have been to Vance's many times. Great store. Bring your (loaded) gun with you as you drive up Cleveland Avenue, however. |

What happens when time runs out? I just got approved and then was furloughed four days before the first class I could start. Not looking like i will be back a work soon. Do I have to start all over again?, as is, it was about 4 mths before I was approved.

I applied the day before thanksgiving, took the test the tuesday after and got the e-mail saying I was eligible for the psych eval wednesday morning. Now I'm on a waiting list. Has anyone else been on the waiting list? How long was it before you were able to schedule your eval?
Thanks! |
I was accepted into the FFDO program in September. But the same e-mail that welcomed me into the program also said that all classes through the end of the year were full because the TSA reduced the number of slots per class so they filled up sooner than anticipated. They said I would hear from them when more classes opened up. Still waiting! Hope to hear from them soon!
But to answer your question, as soon as I got the email stating that I was eligible to continue on to the psych eval. I called and scheduled an appt. for the next week. It all depends on how busy the dr. that you want to visit is. If he/she doesn't have something avail soon, then just jumpseat to another city to get it done somewhere else. |

sounds like they are backed up with guys who have even been completely cleared. That might be the wait...think of it as a ground stop possibly? :D

This forum should have been closed awhile ago APC, shame on you. Inappropriate post.
I understand your curiosity and interest, however, you should have gone and found an FFDO you work with and ask him/her questions. It isnt hard to do. Disappointed you opened this forum. |
Well it was a nice avatar...

a couple of these posts are getting scary close to a sensitive subject. The TSA just posted their entire manual online and the knee jerk reaction that "corrects" that problem might look negatively on this thread. Ask another pilot who has done the program or call the number on the website. Good luck.

Oh it's not THAT bad. It's good information for people like me. I'm wanting to join the program, but I don't really know any FFDOs, so any and all info is interesting and helpful to me. Lighten up, and let the mods deal with any borderline security problems. :) I don't think it's crossed any lines. |
