Sure!
King Tutt sent this memo
"Flight Operations division strategically restructures"

and oddly enough the memo is gone.... hum

odd... well now I feel sheepish..

The letter said something to the effect of moving some people from the training department to the line and cutting out some people that had a hand in the new hire class...

Hmmm - the memo is still in my mailbox. And if training isn't busy then send them back to the line. I'd rather see the folks in training sign a contract for a specified time then re-apply when that time is up or go back to flying anyway. Also not sure why line pilots don't do interviews when we are hiring instead of having a separate dept. staffed with a few folks who do that.

As far as pbs, I agree we should really be using this as a bargaining tool. Also would like to know the vendor and if it's the same one Skywest or Delta is using how they like it.

Can Someone explain what PBS is or hoe it works? Had someone tell me that PBS only gives pref bidding to like the 1st 20% of the pilots. How is that any different from how it works now? The higher you are the more likely you get what you want... Sen.1 guy gets 1st dibs and Sen.1731 gets LAST

On the other hand eTrip and using SkedPlus for swaps and trades is great. Being at the bottom of the FO list use to make it impossible to get a trip swapped in open time. I would bid for 20 diffrent trips and 2% of the time would I actually get something. Now I know right away.

As for PBS, I must say my mouth dropped when I opened the email. I also didn't expect the Union to offer this up until the next contract negotiations. With that said though the recent email about people and jobs that will be gone at the first of the year maybe its something we should look at. I am glad to have my job in light of all the furloughs and really would like to keep it. If that means we have to go to a FAIR PBS system then so be it.

What is FAIR? I like my long vacation after my trips are dropped. What about looking into Delta's vender? I don't know but if the company wants to save money so I can keep a job... To me, no harm in looking...

PS I lets not get this thread locked out due to mud slinging, I would like to see what other people have to say... and yes, my handle is my name...
Have you considered that the efficiencies introduced by a PBS system will probably require ASA to staff less pilots, and is MORE LIKELY to cause furloughs?

With line bidding, you look at all of the set schedules for the month and bid for what you want (or the least worst option if you're junior).

With PBS, you input "preferences" very similar to a default bid, and your preferences are awarded according to seniority. So if you're senior you are very likely to get your dream line, and if you're junior, well, it's like selecting "I'm Feeling Lucky" on a google search.

Will it really? Or are you just speculating? Can you substantiate that? I'm not trying to bust your chops we are on the same team but I would like to see the facts.

Thanks!

I thought the response to the memo was pretty funny. I'm guessing he didn't mean to send that to everyone.

It will be OK in all areas except vacation. You will be required to work up to the day, or minute, before your vaca then the moment it ends. Worst. Idea. EVER>
