Mesaba Minimums!

Okay so i do know that mesaba is hiring for FO's and have classes going on every 2 weeks. But does anyone know how long they plan to run these 2 classes per month? as in it just this month and maybe nov and they intend to run these through the end of the year and also in 2009?

also, says they want 600 tt and 50 multi, is that the bare minimum? or if you have less than that in terms of total time they do consider you.. as in anyone else with lower flight time been hired lately?

a couple of guys i talked to said, thats just the minimums and they actually want 1000 + tt these days since most other regionals aren't hiring, and in fact some are furloughing. sound accurate?

just want to see if i stand a chance, and if it is worth applying. comments appreciated.. thanks!

Well it's ALWAYS worth applying when you think you have a shot. The worst thing they can say to you is no. As for hours I would say that they are looking for more than just hours but a good number to have would be 700-1200 with a CFI and some CFI experience. I don't know what the magic formula is exactly but if you apply now expect to hear something back in about a month to 6 weeks.

As for hiring I dont think anyone knows anything for certain right now. Rumors are going around that state they need to hire a ton of pilots before the end of this year and a ton more in 2009. Who knows to be honest. If I were you I would just get the resume and application all done. Remember the worst they can say is no.

Well the way I look at it, they require you to drop your seniority and you have to sign a contract, they're not going to have a high turnover. That means they can hire anybody they want, they don't have to worry about not hiring high timers who will leave when things pick up again. Not a good thing for low timers. I doubt furloughed major guys would be willing to sign a regional contract but there are loads of furloughed RJ guys who are more than willing, as well as many CRJ guys who I'm assuming they give priority.

I have someone in my class (and im still currently in class) with 600 hours and not too many multi right out of CFI. They will call you if they see something on your resume that they like and they will hire you if they like you.

Thanks alot guys, yeh it surely makes sense to apply. i mean it never hurts to do so, as the best they can do is so no.

but does anyone know if they say no, then can u apply after a month or so again, or do you have to wait like 6 months or so before u can reapply.

Also, what kind of a contract are you referring to? like a training bond? please can you guys give me more details on that.

And the people who are currently in class, any idea if they have big hiring pool at the moment or really in need of pilots?and again, any schedule for classes through the end of the year? do they plan to run them just like they are right now.. twice per month?

There is no training contract at XJ. They might have had one for the street captains they hired last year. But no training contract that I am aware of.

There is no hiring pool, training contract or magic flight time XJ is looking for. XJ looks at the whole package, not just flight time. Classes have been filled with a mix of lower and high time pilots. Apply anyhow, see what happens.

That's good news for low timers.

one quick question, i applied back in august, and got a reply back saying that other candidates may better suit their needs, etc.

so if i wish to reapply.. do i start a new application and apply for the position all over again, or do i just simply update my application?

as in updating it enough.. does it get looked at? or flag in their system, or its better to reapply? thanks!
