PS: Whats your speed bug philosophy? Do you have the "ice speeds" on the the solid one ?

On the Q400 we have only the last bug "iced" in t/o in icing conditions:
We are bugging V1/VR/V2/VFRI/ (VCLIMB +20) but we have the supplement for t/o in icing with the INCR REF SPEED "OFF" (supplement 76). We brief for VFRI + 20 in case of EFATO

and what does it look like during descend?

How do they set their bugs at colgan during descend?

During descent we bug VREF and VGA. If in icing we bug the same speeds + 20 KTS for flaps other than 35, +15 KTS for flaps 35

doesn't Piedmont fly the longer 300 series?

PDT flies 44 DHC-8-100s (37pax) and 11 300s (50 pax) ;)

200s left the PDT fleet about 3-4 years ago.

Does that mean, you have no bug showing you your present min speed during descend (clean)?

I was asking myself if they bugged their VA 0° (ice) on the Colgan plane.

At Horizon we bug Vref and Vref ice. We use the ice number if we have ice, if windshear is reported or suspected, or if gusty winds. I still haven't figured out how to not make the plane float in the flare at Vref ice unless I chop the power and hit fairly hard.

During descend we have the outlined on the intended App Vtarget and the solid always on the PRESENT Va MIN.

The "ice float" reciept (that works for me) is to reduce TRQ to only 5% (heavy acft) 8-10%(light acft, due to reduced inetia) at 50 ft and start round out a little later than normal. Only works if you`re at reduced NP and F15°.

If you don't like it, then don't read it.
