No doubt. But XJTs business model, as mentioned earlier, was around $60(I've just heard from several unofficial sources over time nothing concrete) meanwhile NWA was based on $75. Due to the efficiency of the aircraft involved a $5 change would have a much larger effect on a 50 seat plane than a 150 seat plane. Hence why so many felt the economics of going branded with a regional simply didn't make sense. That and the fact they were limited to the areas they could fly.

How about you guys start you own thread on how you guys are so much better then each other. The whole point of this was to let people know Frontier got some cash, not to start crying about who is better.
I am not saying I agree with what RAH is doing or not, but you guys sure as hell have a lot of time on your hands.

I say close this one up.

What is this obsession with how the friggin airplane LOOKS! The RAH bashing is one thing, but for some reason every other airline that flys 70+ seat aircraft get a pass. And the only thing it ever comes back to with RAH is that the 170 LOOKS like a mini 37? We cant be serious. I'm embarrassed. I mean I personally think the 145 looks like a DC 9. After all it has rear mounted engines. And who decided that 50 seats was the maximum anyway? Is there like a dictionary definition of what a "real" regional airplane should look like? Maybe all Jets should be "mainline" aircraft. Maybe everything over 19 seats should be "mainline". Why do some ppl think that they are the last surviving "regional" pilot because they only operate 50 seat jets? They fly just as fast as "real" jets, just as high, and if you wash em, they're all shiny. So educate me on the 50 seat rule. And dont get me wrong, i'm not suggesting that there shouldnt be a cap on regional flying, but to say that a particular aircraft is "mainline" because it looks like one is...well stupid. And it invalidates the rest of your arguement, because I cant see past how ridiculous the previous statement was.

Now as to the 40 mil. Its a loan ppl. Nobody is giving money to anyone. Loans get paid back with interest. Loans make ppl money. To say that he could have used that money to recall pilots for the sole purpose of warming the couches in the crew room doesnt make much sense. Last I checked RAH has made money every quarter for years. Meaning those who were laid off were laid off because airplanes were taken out of service, and not because the wells had gone dry. Alllright. Now thats everythings cleared up. Why dont we all just take a deep breath....there you go...relax. breeeath out....

Thank you.

Now close this up before they start crying about each other.

Finally someone who gets it. Enough with the RAH bashing already because everyone thinks they are mainline airplanes. How are they any different than a CRJ 900 other than much more comfortable for the passengers? Just because it looks like 737 or an airbus does not make it any worse than the CRJs that carry just as many people that many of the other regionals out there fly. Yeah, all the size airplanes should be at mainline. But has this topic not been beaten to death on multiple other threads? People on here just want an excuse to yell about how RAH is ruining the industry or how bad Mesa is and how they wish they would die. Grow up people. Let's be professional, do our jobs with pride, and continue to fight for better contracts to get the pay and work rules back in line with how they should be. Let's waste less time saying how much better one airline is than another. We're on the same team guys.

The Sad Truth NightIP if you company was in it for the long haul with the branded flying you would still be there flying today. No one in aviation or business could have had a crystal ball, that is what planning and contingency plans are for. In addition to piles of cash to offset the difficult times.

Not to further beat a former dead horse, but XJET still isn't on solid ground, and by no means would I like to see it fail, MESA yes (well really just JO), so to all the RAH XJETter bashers, focus on providing a quality product to your many customers and everything else will work itself out.

Thank you! Finally someone gets it. I admit 170 looks like 737 but that's just a look. It still is 70 seater RJ like Crj700.

The loan to F9 is just a loan. RAH's plan to loan $$ to Midwest wasnt to take over them. Their management was and is the problem. They screwed skyway over why not mainline? YX pilots knew it was coming one way or another b/c i talked to lots of YX pilots and they knew their management was going to screw them over and that it was their turn.
Back to F9. Why cant people think that RAH is just being nice in this tough economy to helpout their former codeshare. Of course it a business so they wont do it for free. Would you if you were a business man? So just relax guys. We will see what happens. Hopefully i F9 brushes their dirts off and come out from CH11 so that RAH and F9 will be both happy.

TD,

I think it's pretty hard, if not impossible, for you to argue that ANY airline who was footing the bill for fuel this past summer handled it smoothly. Branded was planned @ $60 a barrel, & if any airline saw that coming we wouldn't have seen the ungodly losses that so many airlines have suffered thus far.

I understand you defending RAH, but I think you have to admit that Branded was a successful business plan that fell victim to outrageous fuel costs. We also saw the fall of ATA, Midwest(a shell of their former selves), Aloha, etc. Are you going to tell me their business plans were crap as well? Like I said, I understand your defending RAH, but XJET Branded was a successful product.

GoBlue 03-07-2009 06:30 AM

Saab,
Your constant criticism of RAH rings a little hollow considering you started your airline career at Colgan. I realize they fly turboprops, but I use to fly for Piedmont where we were compensated much better and had much better work rules in our contract. I realize you left, but none the less you were willing to work for a place with substandard pay and work rules to get your airline career going.

As a side note, most of the pilots here at RAH were not here when the last TA was voted on. However, all the pilot currently at Express Jet had a chance to vote on concessions and voted them in after the company signed a contract with CAL that they couldn't make money on. I know, I know, that was RAH and big, bad, Skywest's fault. All of your problems can and will continue to be blamed on everyone else. The next time you want RAH pilots to refuse flying, just remember that you guys had a chance to "burn it down" and refused to do so.

Belive that if you want

None of us has a crystal ball but if RAH history is any indicator of their future then Frontier Pilots may be in for a surprise. This is just My prediction and I may very well be Wrong for all pilots hoping to make it to a Major I hope I am wrong..

Did RAH lend money to US Air, Midwest, and the outfit in Hawaii now Frontier

RAH is doing what they have to do its all Business. Management at RAH or any airline dont Give too hoots about employees they are in Business to Make Money, the quicker we as pilots flight attandants mechanics gate agents figure that out the quicker our blood pressure will be lowered. We can comment all we want but my parents always say why cry over spilt milk

I am a Pylot dont get your panties in a wad over my grammer or Spell Check..

Fly Safe Yall
