This Eagle Displacement is my favorite!!!!

Well this displacement really iced the cake for those really junior guys. I'm going from JFK EMJ FO to SJU ATR FO...I was one month from going up to second year pay and last time I checked San Juan wasn't that close to NH.

This one has left me kind of speechless....

Danger Dan 03-05-2009 04:40 PM

Enjoy PR. I know I would if I was employed.

TXav8r13 03-05-2009 04:42 PM

Was this the a result of the last displacement of the 18 ORD EMJ FO's?

withthatsaid182 03-05-2009 04:51 PM

yep...i guess they found enough staffing for ny haha

threegreen 03-05-2009 04:58 PM

how are you guys staffed?
Is there still a a chance of some interviews this year?

nobody is going to hire this year. You are one persistent sob, the airline industry is not doing so well this year if you haven't noticed yet. No offense but you will not get a class this year.

I understand, I just wouldn't expect a class to soon and I'm not trying to be a dick. Lets just hope airlines start hiring in 2010

Regionals will still be hiring here and there depending on how this economy is later this year. But yea if you're a straight street pilot with no experience, no class for you this year and maybe the next.

kbronc 03-05-2009 05:40 PM

welcome to the rock

withthatsaid182 03-05-2009 05:50 PM

so i have heard horror stories...how bad is it? what's it like?

ridejumpfly 03-05-2009 06:24 PM

I was in Dallas last week and was told the folowing by someone about as high as you can go... Summer bookings are pathetic, March bookings are non-existent, hiring was stopped about a year ago and attrition has not been close to what was expected. Hiring that was planned for attrition will likely not resume until first quarter 2010.

usmc-sgt 03-05-2009 06:33 PM

I have no ties to eagle other than a good friend that works there but I do live in NH and couldnt even begin to guess how I would commute to PR.

And I thought EWR was bad (same as you as the JFK commute is identical)

I wonder if he is going to PR as well. He was BOS displaced as EM FO to JFK and he was hired around Nov of 07'

withthatsaid182 03-05-2009 07:05 PM

Sounds like you didn't have your displacement preferences in order. Im sure you can get back in the next vacancy bid. Good luck.

withthatsaid182 03-05-2009 07:29 PM

i made sure the displacement preference was in order about two weeks ago...i had LGA JFK ORD DFW, all EMJ FO then CRJ FO. i'm not the only one either, about 11 or 12 other guys are in my boat...

Swedish Blender 03-05-2009 09:14 PM

You said you had all EMJ FO then CRJ FO. Did you have DFW ATR FO?

Jessemh 03-05-2009 10:39 PM

I flew the ATR SJU for 1.5 years before I came to compass. If you really want the scoop you can PM me but I had alot of fun while I was there. Granted I moved there.

I'm also friends with some one who was originally from NH and moved to SJU and now commutes to JFK EMJ CA from SJU.

Also when I was in class, people who were assigned sju as a base put their bid in for MIA and were awarded MIA before they were into IOE. Don't know about now though.

You still have an LAX base right? That commute should be a really easy one.

Anyways, I would say move to PR and try to enjoy the sun. At least see the positive in that.

P-51D 03-05-2009 11:47 PM

I heard the same thing...there is this posting for a UND career fair I found on jetforums and it says AE is going to interview at it.

That is true if you look at SAMA's website for the career fair this year.
2009 SAMA Aerospace Conference & Career Fair

Could be interviewing into a pool though, I'm sure the Eagle pilot's on this board would know if they are hiring.

I remember when one of the students planning the career fair brought in GoJets one year, that didn't go over to well with most of the staff.

First, we no longer have the beech or beech captains although that is neither here nor there.

Second the only way i see that we would hire this spring is for attrition which there is fairly little of although I think it may be a good possibility. Next spring we will hire close to 200 or more if we still exist.

Me? Fly a prop?? Naah with my 700hrs, I deserve to be on the jet. Oh and another thing 182, they love gringos that refer SJU as the "rock"...

Notice how it says "Interviewing on-site" not "Interviewing for FO positions on-site". They've had that little star next to NWA and DAL and a few other in the past... because they were interviewing for interns... don't get your hopes up.

stillageek 03-06-2009 06:47 AM

There was at least one FO who didn't submit enough bids and was awarded San Juan while FO's junior got JFK ERJ. Every displacement/vacancy bid there is always someone who pounds sand because they didn't have enough bids/screwed up their bids. If you are super junior and all you could hold is SFA then so be it. A buddy of mine left a bid preference in to change bases and is pounding sand because he didn't really want it.

I was told early on if you don't want it....don't bid it and if you don't bid...don't bi*ch.

One bright spot....I will no longer be the most junior DFC! Two guys (including my buddy ;-) ) coming in below me.

maveric311 03-06-2009 07:22 AM

wow! u were the one that they put on the rock because you didn't have enough bids in ur 3d. why didn't you bid everything includin ur current dom as number 1? u wouldn't have had to gotothe rock if you had had enough bidsin ur 3d.

stillageek 03-06-2009 07:43 AM

It wasn't me. I'm staying put as DFC. I reviewed the preliminary results and saw one FO with NEB's (not enough bids) who got sent to San Juan while FO's junior to him go JFK ERJ.

You deserve to be on a jet? You're joking right? maybe I can't tell that you are.

I already got a job offer from them and turned it down. I was just pointing out the site to others.

I have never been based in SJU, but have spent a lot of time there visiting friends who were based there. Operations run as slow as molasses, youll be hot all the time, and the overnights are short. On the bright side, if you like to drink, gamble, or chase women you will have a blast :) Also great surfing, beaches, snorkeling, sailing. The flying is some of the most beautiful in the system and youll be a better pilot for it (NDB holds, crazy ass visual approaches) It is what you make of it, so start learning spanish!

I'm keeping BOS as my preference... Grand opening is just around the corner. Feeling good about it...
