Just under 75 hours a month on reserve is proper staffing levels we aren't even close to this. I don't believe anyone is getting junior manned lately. Those arrows you see on skedplus indicate less reserves then their model, but the truth is they aren't junior manning or asking line holders to pick up time and a half! Ha in fact everyone is snapping up open time like crazy! They could drop 300 more hours into open time and it would be gone by the end of the first open time bid period. ASA wont be overstaffed for some time. I expect ASA wont hire anyone until spring 2010 when and if they find a place for the 20 200's.

Thanks for the clarification. I wish people weren't snapping up open time but I'm sure some of them need to pay bills. Things are pretty dark right now because there is no way we are going to find home for those 20 200's next year. I guess we will be seeing more furloughs next spring :(

those freakin red arrows are buggin me, cant swap a thing this month.

Question so I dont need to look it up. If you have a trip that lies on top of a red arrow, low coverage, and you try to swap to a trip that lies on the same 3 days as what you currently have does it automatically reject it like it were a trip over a different 3 days??

Actually, those 20 200's might be closer to a home then you think. "Rumor" has is (per chief pilot, so take it with a grain of salt) that we are talking with United. If they take the bait then I could easily see us not furloughing anymore pilots. As for brining back the furloughed, we will just have to see. Also on the rumor board, talks of more 900's (not the ones we are already scheduled to have) our way... I would only image this is at the expense of more 200's.

Food for thought!

Oh and one more thing, we are still overstaffed!

Yea you've gotta be top 75 on the CR7 FO to pick up any open time. Anything I've ever tried to pickup goes to someone who can hold captain... This has happened 4 times this month.

FWIW I don't think nobody picking up opentime will bring back furloughs, that's a wives tale and it's way more complicated than that.

Even with the red arrows I wouldn't call ASA overstaffed either. But the fact that the only lines in the bid packed on the CR7 are 4 and 3 day trips will really bring down moral, I think. There are THREE nap lines to one destination. No more day lines, no more 2-day's. Hell I'd rather sit reserve than fly 4 day's living 20 mins from the parking lot... Anyone else with me?

I think the lines suck as well.. I would much rather sit LCR then fly 4 day trips that credit 75 hours..

When they stop offering COMA lines that's when I'll "start" to think we're not overstaffed.

I heard the United rumor the entire time I was employed at ASA. I hope it was true, but I'm not getting my hopes up. If I keep my expectations low then at least I can't be disappointed, lol. More -900s would be nice as long as they don't cost mainline jobs or more -200s, both of which are wishful thinking.......

SH said in recurrent this week that the deal with UA for 13 planes out of IAD fell through.

Well that doesn't surprise me. Well to look at the positive, we still have a lot of time before the years end. If it comes down to another furlough, I would imagine that it would happen around Jan. of 2010, or somewhere around the first RJ leaving the property.

I'm sure ASA will pull their head out of their... well... you know, and come up with something, maybe.

Yah ASA didnt decide to pull back on the block hours and reduce the flying and they didnt want to furlough anyone.

These are all results of Delta and a bad economy.

Trash talk the airline all you want but they do work to keep us in a job.

We could be working for a company like Trans States or Mesa instead.
