More TSA Furloughs

30 more on May 15th....

I think they're back to April '07 DOH now, I could be wrong.

undflyboy06 03-12-2009 01:44 PM

Anything for April, or are they jumping from March to May?

Positive_Rate 03-12-2009 01:46 PM

I talked to two guys both April '07, and they're May 15, but the 30 could easily encompass 2 class sizes here, so I'm not sure. When is the second March cut date...23rd?

Atreyu 03-12-2009 01:50 PM

They're just gonna furlough the entire pilot list soon

CaptKrunch 03-12-2009 01:51 PM

I am sorry to hear about the furloughs. Being out sucks. Were these furloughs planned or are these new?

Positive_Rate 03-12-2009 01:53 PM

Brand new...calls went out today.

Purpleanga 03-12-2009 01:53 PM

Pretty sad.

145mule 03-12-2009 01:56 PM

I am speechless... Hang in there guys & gals...

TBucket 03-12-2009 03:08 PM

April of '07???!?!? Damn... That's going deep...

Purpleanga 03-12-2009 03:34 PM

This will probably double the will for the pilots to burn it down. There's nothing like lowering the morale of the pilots by announcing furloughs in advance while they hire and add more airplanes for the alterego.

ehe2 03-12-2009 04:10 PM

15 more downgrades... Back to May 2004 hires.

ExperimentalAB 03-12-2009 04:11 PM

Holy cow...is this because of the pulling of Connection's planes?? I thought those were planned?

ehe2 03-12-2009 04:15 PM

I think this is more than the american flying...

Copperhed51 03-13-2009 11:40 AM

Sorry guys. Hang in there.

Salukipilot4590 03-13-2009 11:55 AM

Ah crap...hang in there guys! With any luck we'll all be back in the crew room before the sun explodes!

pinkpanther 03-13-2009 12:40 PM

WHAT? 30 more, Tbucket you were in my class, did you hear anything more. That puts you and me pretty close to the bottom, for now.

For now, it looks like we're going to be on the bottom of the pile. I haven't heard anything in addition to these new 30... But we're up next on the chopping block.

I'm really hoping we can at least get moving towards being released to self-help before they can get rid of any more of us.

CaptainCarl 03-13-2009 06:48 PM

This is the point at which we should start to realize that the light at the end of the tunnel is a train. God speed.

Sorry man, but they deferred that light a while ago... Category F.. (for we're F.... well, you get it)...

Foxcow 03-14-2009 03:51 PM

They are already short staffed in St. Louis so they furlough more? They are sending people who live in St. Louis that were displaced to IAD to sit hotel reserve in STL to sit hotel reserve! Now more furloughs? I guess they think that this will make us sign that POS bridge proposal... I'm not taking a bite of that ****** sandwich!

Foxcow 03-14-2009 03:52 PM

In other news:

The Strike Center will be be staffed on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting on the 17th. The hours of operation will be from 10:00-14:00. We are still looking for volunteers to continuously staff the operation.

The number to the office is 1-877-587-2772 if you have any questions.

skippy 03-14-2009 05:19 PM

cant sit hotel reserve if your sick-- use it up-- if you're going to get furloughed , you;d be a fool to leave that on the table!

TheOak 03-16-2009 12:07 PM

I was sitting airport reserve since 5a.m. on my birthday (march 12th) and about to get off when I got a phone call notifying me of my new pending furlough. FML

That site is great way to burn the hours away.

Weisguy 03-22-2009 06:44 AM

APC shows June Furloughs too

Curious if anyone has heard or been notified of downgrades or furloughs for June. On the TSA page for APC it shows the 30 furloughs in May and an additional in 20 in June. Just seeing if there is any validity to that.

How could you be speachless.......its TSA.....this is the norm with that place. Good luck guys!

TBucket 03-24-2009 10:06 PM

Rumore is that the next thing TSA mgmt is going to do is replace those little ID safety cards with these:

pilutguy 03-25-2009 08:30 AM

First off, Im sorry to hear of the furloughs, being a furloughed pilot myself, i know it sucks. Second, if TSA is doing all this furloughing, and getting rid of pilots, where is all the flying go to. I have heard on the street that united is looking to get rid of TSA. Anyone shed some light in this??

250 or point 65 03-25-2009 08:37 AM

Well, according to doug-e-fresh (and we all know how much weight that holds), united is actually pretty pleased with us since we did our ramp observations at ORD and IAD. We can only cattle prod so much to get out on time. Also, they have been doing their best to document why planes went out late...like when they dont start boarding until after departure time and then blame it on MX cause they happened to drive by the terminal 2 hrs prior. The only thing United could possibly have against TSA is that we're in negotiations. We all know that United wants the cheapest flying no matter how many passengers they **** off...and besides Mesa, we're it!

And I'll throw the flag on this one.

this is just flamebait, this is not a rumor going around...mostly because it does not make any sense.

god its my birthday and i'm thinking the same thing what was that site...?
You "ski-ers" should stick around ...im not down with those alter 700's next to me.

Positive_Rate 03-25-2009 01:58 PM

Not sure if everyone knows but there was a big MEC meeting this past Monday. Apparently Mr. Doughboy Leach let slip that 851 and 852 are returning to the lessors soon...at the end of their one year anniversary here. Not sure if this accounts for the most recent 30 furloughs but I think that'll take us to 26 or 27 airframes...fml.

Xelectro 03-25-2009 02:24 PM

XJT is picking them up supposedly.

TBucket 03-25-2009 02:55 PM

Nothing like bleeding out slowly... If we don't hurry up, there's not going to be anything left to burn down...

bryris 03-25-2009 03:38 PM

Its a damn shame what is happening at TSA. I was hired in 6/07, flew nearly 1,100 hours with the company, commuted in early so I didn't miss a trip, did everything right. Yet, the gamble of choosing that company has resulting in an entirely different situation for me now than I had envisioned a year ago. Many other regionals are furloughing too, but I think we're going the deepest in terms of % of the group.

Its just a shame. If/when I go back to the industry, I hope to do better with company selection than the first time around.

Sucks for everyone.

I've learned, though, that often times things that happen are blessings in disguise. I wonder about this.....

skippy 03-26-2009 03:22 AM

the only way the company learns is by costing them money-- it's the only effective technique. use your sick time, fly the contract.

i think XJ doesnt need an extra 2 planes- with their size and effciency capability, they could easily plan two planes worth of flying. but if they want to save money on the great paint scheme for united and change the N number and take off that whopper sticker that states UX, DBA TSA then i dont know what to say

Source? Why would they need two beat-up ex. Mesa ex. TSA birds when they've got 4 LRs and an XR or two that have just been sitting in the sun in RIC since branded went TU a while ago...

Xelectro is an XJET furloughed who is waiting for his class date at Gojets. Keeps saying United is going to give TSA flying to Xjet, this is like his 5th post on the subject, he won't drop it. By the way what's the word on negotiations, I heard the last meeting didn't go to well and it's going to be the last attempt...
