Default The 99s and XJT

Is there a correlation? Just see a TON of women at XJT who then follow Dad over to CAL. Wondering if the 99s encourage their members to head over to XJT simply because there are so many there in place and there is comfort in numbers? Just an observation.

I heard something that a hiring manager was fired at XJet for hiring too many women? Any truth?

It sure seems like the number of women working at XJet seems to be greater then the proportion of male to female at other airliners and in aviation in general.

So what say you XJet pilots?

ya'll are crazy. If there's a reason that more women are applied at expressjet (aka, top tier regional, friends there, family at CAL) then it would also make sense that more women would be hired there.

Who knows what the real story is but she was pilot who on medical leave put in charge of hiring. She made a new-hire class of women, 12 of 14 were women, and she supposedly was removed from her position after that. People call it the "Women Aviation" class but I have no idea if there is any official connection. She has since returned to line flying. So, as the stories that I've heard, I wouldn't say that she was fired for hiring too many women, as much as that one class did her in.

As long as the women hired were equally as qualified as the male hires, who gives a damn?

Because a class of 14 in which 12 are female is not indicative of the general male-female distribution in this business. And, it just so happens that the one hiring at the time was female...y'all are always too politically correct! You know, discrimination either way is wrong.

And just FYI I prefer flying with women anyway...

The word was the entire class was weak. I don't know how many washed out but I know one of the dudes washed out.
