Avroman... so you mean to tell me that if they actually started enforcing the requirement to our hats you'd still not wear it? Is it really that big of a deal? I just don't get this huge deal people make about the hat... and not wearing it for various silly reasons. Nobody is judging you, wether you look goofy or not. It's the uniform... wear it.

god forbid the uniform is actually worn as intended :)

Yay, I really hope we go to a black uniform. It'll make it easier to find non-company pants. :p The current blue is a ***** to match with the blazer.

You new guys have no idea what doom and gloom is! You will definitely know, when things are bad around here.

DL has changed as the wind blows with respect to many things. It's becoming VERY obvious that DL shoots from the hip, whereas NWA was very calculated, precise and predictable. So worrying about FALL block hours today will only waste energy.

Don't be such a negative nelly.

I agree.. I was in RGS recently and I didn't take anything away from it other than there wasn't anything new happening.

It was reiterated to us that SLC was NOT a testing run, temporary step. Mesaba was, in fact, to have more in SLC because they did NOT want JFK, or the performance numbers that go with it, under any circumstance. Skywest said they wanted JFK and we ended up with 5 planes instead of 10 in SLC (the remaining 5 in ATL) because of the current contract with Skywest / ASA.

Nothing more, nothing less.

flyandive 04-02-2009 07:32 PM

I doubt you guys would get new uniforms. ASA and Freedom are silver and black. Maybe, you'd go from blue and silver to black and silver? I doubt it though.

I don't see us being issued new uniforms. And I sure hope we don't switch to gold.
I drive an airplane not the SS Minnow.
Ground instructors are contract not union positions. They kept them ca
use they cost half as much as union FTI.

I think they are keeping the 900 Union FTIs around which seems like there is growth coming or they are gonna need them for a displacement. For you senior XJ guys if they are thinking about a displacement why would they keep just the 900 instructors around? The 200 is where the overstaffed problem is and from what I have been told the Saab and 900 are short on the FO side. So if this is true wouldn't the displacement need Saab and 900 instructors?

Wonderful.... I guess my suitcase's head won't ever get cold then......Cause the hat sure as hell won't ever be placed on my head

Not to worry Avroman. I heard the hat issue was specifically asked and the answer was it will not be enforced. A vast majority do not want hats either, apparently.

Don't have a sure answer to this right now. You are right about the staffing situation as they are described by mid level management people. Little overstaffed on the Saab CA and on the 200 CA and FOs. Many people are skeptical about this overstaffing situation as described by the management.

One way to keep an eye on it is to look at the load factor this summer on the mainline jets and see what DAL does with their right sizing fleet concept. If you see more cities added every month with increased blocked hours at XJ then that could mean growth.

xj200capt 04-03-2009 06:41 AM

I spoke to a returning Instructor. Summer block hours are not what they had hoped. Unfortunately I don't know if that means overall or just one fleet.

As far as the 200 being overstaffed. Maybe on the FO side but on the Captain side we are 6 to 9 short. 9 went to the 900 and they didn't back fill. I have no idea how many Instructors are returning to the 200 line but I don't think its that many.
