And what is good service by a van driver anyway? Get us there alive? Keep yer trap shut if it’s 2am or cackle like a meth addict?

Half the time they just stand there holding the back door open.

Ever wonder why the hotel van didn’t wait for you for more than a couple minutes? It’s bc of all you cheap morons who don’t have the common decency to tip.

If you don’t tip regularly you disgust me.

Well if you really are mainline "AF" then you disgust me completely because you make twice my pay to do the same job. You should pay all our van tips instead of preaching that steam pile.

Boo hoo. Regional Airline pay isn't what it used to be. At $30/hr, it didn't break the bank to tip. Stop feeling bad for yourself.

As has been mentioned: Loading your bags.

Did the driver load your bags?
• No: No tip required.
• Yes: Tip $1/bag.

(This isn’t directed at you, Tired Soul) I can’t believe there are guys out there that don’t tip. It’s all about the bag.

1. They’re not supposed to wait but run on time
2. You don’t know me or anything about me
3. In 135 ops I never let the FO’s pay the van driver, I’d take care of that as I made twice as much
4. In my first 121 job I was “disgusted” by a Captain bumming a buck from a minimum wage FA
5. Should be the Captains ‘tradition’ to pay for the entire crew. ( See 3.)

If you’re a mainline Captain and you don’t pay a measly $5 for the entire crew you’re a cheapskate

I don't feel bad at all! Also, it did certainly break the bank, when as a FO, I routinely had just 15-20 a week to spend on food. Like I said, I've never cared one way or another if any of my crew does. When I have a buck or even 50 cents on me I'll oblige IF it's decent service. (maybe half the time) I'm far more likely to tip if the driver brings me to a restaurant or store, because that is extra service in my view.

And often against the rules of the establishment as it was with my hotel back in the day.

Btw - someone earlier said something about them not waiting for the crews. Our instructions were to dump everyone else as the airlines crews were our number one priority! I was NEVER late to pick up a crew at the airport or the hotel.

Poor service isn't even a function of hotel quality. In fact, in some of the so-called better hotels I've seen poor transportation performance compared to the usual dumps that house regional trash.

Then get out of the way so I can load my own bag. I've seen it where someone has put their own bag on, only to have it removed by the driver and reloaded because, ya know, he has a "system." I've seen flight kits get tossed around like the driver is living out his wet dream of being a ramper in Atlanta. That's a no go. I've been carrying my bags all day. I don't need some driver to load anything. Just get up there and drive.

95% of the people who don't tip are non US citizens, greaseballs from the Northeast and Chicago, and Floridians.
