I've seen flight kits get tossed around like the driver is living out his wet dream of being a ramper in Atlanta. That's a no go. I've been carrying my bags all day. I don't need some driver to load anything. Just get up there and drive.

Do you also tell the waitress that you'll put your own order in and pick it up from the kitchen so you don't have to tip her?

I don't eat at those places if I don't have to. Most of the time, I don't have to. The shuttle is a contracted service. And, the waitress can take a cashless tip. Driver can't. So your logic fails a bit there, champ. Just a bit.

Guess you have us all figured out then. I am a midwestern guy, but not Chicago so try again. 5%er!

You brought up a good point. If the van drivers took cards for tips, I would be tipping on the regular for sure.

It really amazing how it seems it's primarily RJ captains (not even FOs) who avoid tipping, even in this thread. When I was flying RJs it was always embarrassing when the CA would spend the van ride talking about the fancy dinner he was going to get at whatever restaurant he liked near the hotel and then he was the only on in the crew who didn't tip the driver.

Absolutely. Depending on the number of people I might gav in that particular van I certainly wasn’t about that leav it to ANY passenger about how they were going through haphazardly load the luggage - much the same way that many an FA has to instruct the traveling humanity how to properly load the overheads. No difference.

Not standard at all from what I have seen.

Well, you already stated that you don’t tip so how the heck would you know? Just continue to grab your bag and quickly turn around and walk away hoping nobody notices (here is a tip: they do).

I dont believe I said that I "never" tip. My main sticking point in this entire stupid thread is that people are making rash judgments about people based off whether they have a buck on them or not.

In all honesty, I try and take care of my own bags, but I still end up tipping about 50% of the time, usually when I have the cash on me. If I have no cash on me, I am way more diligent about taking care of my own stuff.

If people are noticing, they are not saying anything, acting any differently or dropping trips with me over it, so really at the end of the day, why should I care? I am good person that works hard and treats people fairly, but I also have this horrible tendency to be "realistic" and not overtly judgmental at the drop of a hat with little to no evidence.

If I implied I "never" tip, my apologies, I either was playing the devils advocate or misspoke. To the point you were making about a buck a bag, I am certain that is not normal and just because you may live by that creed, certainly doesn't make it the norm, at least not with flight crews. I will add though to this last point that my reference is at the regional level, so if you are some mainline crew, then things may be different.

Also, I will leave this here. https://www.glassdoor.com/Salaries/s...RCH_KO0,18.htm
They on average make more than a fast food worker, hourly, but yet we dont tip the McDonalds staff.

You’re cheap. Bottom line. Just say I’m too cheap and i don’t have to pay the guy $1 bc I’m selfish and i don’t have to.

That would make your argument a lot more tolerable. Stop making excuses for your embarrassing behavior.
