You can still JS for free. You just have to list on the phone and tell the gate agents you're jumpseating or else they say you're "using your benefits"

I hope so Duck, because through DAL's similar program that isn't the case...

JoeyMeatballs, you have a statement "in memory of SAAB" what happened to him. I hope it's nothing serious and he is just out for a while. He was one of the reason why I read this forums.

SAAB is dead and gone. May he RIP :D

the big thing with both DAL and UAL's system is do i get a seat assignment?

if you get a seat assignment, the computer automatically goes through your benefit plan to do so. if you do not have a seat assignment, just the Cockpit access form, then it treats you as a jumpseater, regardless of regional affiliation.

i recently JS on DAL to get to Dothan, AL. i kept telling the gate agent i wanted to jumpseat. i never got a seat assignment, just the CASS slip. i took an open seat & rode in the main cabin. no asking for PPR number or anything.

that's the main line we're getting from our JS folks: do not ask for a seat assignment, only the JS form. then take any open seat in the back.

btwissel, my problem on DAL is that they go through the computer...no slips to avoid getting a seat-assignment. I've been lucky twice where I've used them -- once because I knew the agents working the Delta counter very well, and once because the J/S was the only seat available...

Are you sure that UA will work the same way? Our JS guy said it looks like jumpseating will remain unchanged...?

that's what i've seen from the JS folks (and others that pestered corporate themselves) on the union & pilot websites. i honestly won't know till i try it for the first time.
