Yes and no. Where I work, we are the most disfunction place I have ever seen. There is no TEAM. There is propaganda and I actually help with that. If your employees are happy, they will go that extra mile. Most of the people who work in our Marketing dept don't believe what they are spewing because they are in some of the meetings where the smoke and mirrors are made. Most people I work with want more than a paycheck but they would like the paycheck to reflect the work they do much like the pilots on here. It's pretty much a slap in the face when your boss buys a brand new $50K vehicle paying cash and she talks all about it just before she starts the meeting about cut backs. Just my .02 but then again, my wife tells me I am opinionated. ;)
