Don't bust a checkride for a girlfriend...
When I started this whole mess of trying to fly for a living my gray haired and divorced instructor told me, "you'll lose your wife/girl friend/woman" over this. That was at least four ago and counting......

Don't let them stop you, they always try, first they tell you "oh that's fine we can fly for free". Then it becomes "what about me, your not here". Then it becomes, "me or the flying." Then I say "I've packed your things, have a good life." Or something similar.

Or you can do what I'm doing... Joing the ANG. This will help supplement the income of 1st year FO's. Also, if you put in 20yrs you can double dip.. Military retirement pay and soon to follow Airline retirement IF you can last that long. Heck if all else fails you have something to fall back on if you're ever furloughed. Just my .02

Will scheduling work around your ANG duty?

scheduling won't work around your military duty to make you happy.....they'll do it because they're required to. Honestly, awesome fall back, serve the country, and keep flying. After the downgrade, a friend of mine started having orders written up all the time, gotta find a way to pay the bills....

Unless of course you're an FO. FA's are well aware of what we make

They are required by law to work around ANG duty. A buddy of mine just went AD (Active Duty) because he's set to be "F'd"
