I'm glad you have only had one flight cancel in your airline career, I have lost over 11 hours of pay this month on cancellations. Ask the Atlanta guys doing the Delta Shuttle if they would like cancellation pay. Several of our wonderful outstation bases deadhead on nearly every trip. Its great that we don't have Jr. manning, but our work rules do suck and that NEEDS to be addressed in the contract.

That's going on the assumption he's maxed out on the payscale, NOT year 2 or 3. Granted, not much of a difference, but still.

Many people have this shortsighted view on this type of stuff. They feel that if its not currently or previously affecting them, then they don't care. But circumstances can change quickly. Not to mention that there may be other people who are affected by these things and that everyone should strive to make their contract better as a whole even if it doesn't do much for you at the time.
Where the heck you been at the other place. Just not the same reading the politics section with you busting fly's cajones ;) |

Yeah, I was giving him the benefit of the doubt.
Yeah, I picked up on that. I was just making it obvious just in case some people were not quite sharp enough to get it. |

Kinda like at our shop with the issues that concerned PMR's/no CCS, eh?

Yeah, SL and I fought a losing battle on that one, sorry it didn't turn out better. Although, I still think we will eventually get something out of those two group grievances.
But here's a few rhetorical, but valid questions. Say there FINALLY does come a resolution to a blatant contract violation that went on for over a year. The company finally pulls it's head from it's rectum and says, "OK former Delcon/Branded pilots, since we violated the contract on you for over a year with your weak d1cked MEC's blessing, we're going to award you (insert whatever amount) of pay credit for the PITA factor we put you through". If it is in the form an hourly value, what will that hourly amount get paid out at? For the displaced folks, will it be at the rate at which the contract was violated against them, or their CURRENT rate? Sure, SOME money will be better than NO money. But if it's at current rate, not the rate at which the violation occurred, that's just more salt on the 48%ish wound, you think? Will the pilots on unpaid vacation get a pay out if that's the resolution?

You don't have to apologize nor rehash a bunch of dirty, crappy water that passed under the bridge.

Since we're talking about work rules, how much time off did that vacation score you with NO impact on your pay guarantee? Not only days off due to trip touch, but TOTAL days off?

The last time BD mentioned to me what a possible resolution may be (a couple of months ago), it did not include any monetary compensation. It was in the form of work rule changes. Everyone benefits from it this way.
But oh, the sweet irony. We like to (and rightfully so) talk about non unionized carriers riding the coat tails of unionized shops because it helps them out. Now, our pilot group, of which many had NO freaking clue about the issues with that grievance, let alone it even existed, will get to ride OUR coat tails. You're welcome COEX guys! |
