An oldie but goodie relating to the last post:

Letter of Recommendation from former employer:

While working with Mr. Xxxxxx, I have always found him
working studiously and sincerely at his table without idling or
gossiping with colleagues in the office. He seldom
wastes his time on useless things. Given a job, he always
finishes the given assignment in time. He is always
deeply engrossed in his official work, and can never be
found chitchatting in the canteen. He has absolutely no
vanity in spite of his high accomplishment and profound
knowledge of his field. I think he can easily be
classed as outstanding, and should on no account be
dispensed with. I strongly feel that Mr. Xxxxxx should be
pushed to accept promotion, and a proposal to administration be
sent away as soon as possible.

A second note following the report:

XXXXXX WAS PRESENT WHEN I WAS WRITING THE REPORT MAILED TO YOU TODAY. KINDLY
READ ONLY THE ALTERNATIVE LINES 1,3,5,7,... FOR MY TRUE ASSESSMENT OF HIM.

This makes for interesting reading, but you might want to get proper legal advice. If you are a member of AOPA, you can contact their legal people.

Exclamation Get good (professional) advice

Take the lawyers advice, consult a lawyer. Before you do, find out how much he intends to charge and size up his personality. Has he done similar work re: airlines/aviation??Is he a labor lawyer (good) and or a contract lawyer (both, better) Don't write him a blank check and be sure to understand what he's willing to do and how far he's willing to go (fight?? ) for the agreed price. My guess you have already poisoned the pond, so to speak, regarding getting him as a future "good" reference. Talk to the lawyer about that too. Remember, minimize damage to to future as well as the present. Don't fight simply on principle, do it protect/enhance your future. Figure your going to have to explain this part of your work history in the future and make sure no one believes you didn't try to resolve this amicably. Good luck.
