If you're talking a "FULL" type, I guess that would be correct.

But look at how many certificates state under limitations "CIRC. APCH.-VMC ONLY" as it refers to the type rating.

So does that mean I don't have a "full type", but a guy with 300 hours that bought his type rating at a flight school that offered it and had to demonstrate a circle is more qualified?

By "full" type, I meant PIC type.

Even with a VMC limitation, you still had to demonstrate a circling approach on your ride, didn't you?

Nope, hence the restriction. If it was demonstrated on the actual type ride, why would they restrict it?

That's a great question - one I haven't thought about. I knew about the restriction but thought one was still demonstrated on the ride. Guess not - not the first time I've been wrong and won't be the last :D

So if you don't have to circle, then the big maneuver difference between PIC and SIC types would be a no-flap landing, correct?

I did a no-flap landing on my SIC type ride.

Well okay, I'm really confused now...

What's the difference between the two rides then?

I'm confused also :D

But possibly like I mentioned earlier, the ground school, etc.

I believe to get a "PIC type", the candidate also has to demonstrate taxing, as well as an RTO, either stopping on the runway, or taxiing off to resolve the issue depending on the situation the APD gave.

I know I've talked to more than one 767 FO that had to demonstrate certain maneuvers from the left seat on his ride, even though he'd never do them from that seat until he upgraded. Maybe there's been a change to the regs where that's not required anymore.
