Default Panic Button - Is This The Future?

"digital parachute," a panic-button technology that will land any plane in a pinch at the closest airport, no matter what the weather or geography, and without help from a pilot.

HAHAHA What a joke. I am sure that button would have saved everyone on board that Colgan Q400.

Again the comments section never ceases to amaze:

You don't need to containerize passengers, but let them seat themselves, and stow their own baggage in the overhead bin.

Eliminate flight attendants. Let passengers grab a drink and a box lunch on their way in, and let the co-pilot press play on the DVD player so they can show the safety message. What else does a flight attendant do other than block the aisle?

Good thing Sully's didn't have a panic button otherwise the Airbus would have run out of altitude in NJ on the way to Teterboro.
