Why would nothing cause 4-6 hour delay? If it was nothing, mx would either sign it off as being airworthy, or it would be a quick fix.

How about giving an example? There are lots of times where I write stuff up, as a FO, which they turn out to be issues that need to be fixed in domicile vs being discovered at an outstation.

Here's one that ****ed me off. Made me stuck in MSP into my day off and lost $400 worth of hotel/football tix over it. Guy who was notorious for writing things up to stick it to the man (he was too dumb to realize it also affected fellow pilots) wrote up "efis comp mon when taxiing to the gate." His FO told me it came on for 1 seconds as they were turning into the gate. Anyways it required a ferry flight MSP-CWA to swing it on a compass rose.

Or the one that wrote up "red paint chipped from guarded mtx switch". The one behind the CA seat in the CRJ-200. Required mtx to drive a new guard from GSP to CLT.

How come he was the only one doing a thorough preflight and writing this stuff up? You guys probably noticed the same things but knowingly blew them off? Why?

The first post in this thread is a media story about the lawsuit he filed. This individual is newsworthy so he's no longer entitled to automatic anonymity.

But if people are going to talk about him, they had better be telling the truth.

In many or most cases mx cannot just decide that a writeup is "nothing" without physically inspecting it. At an out station that can take hours for somebody to get there. Somebody who WANTS to screw the company can easily pick items to write up at a location which will require a road trip or ferry flight.
