I actually traded in the QC2's for the 15s and while they are quite a bit quieter, they don't seem to seal as well and I get a lot of feedback on take off and taxi. It was enough of a problem that I could hear the ANR trying to compensate just chewing on something. Never had that with the 2s. I'm going to exchange them for a different pair and try that. If it's the same, then I'll trade em back for the QC2s again. On the plus side, Bose's CS is so far excellent.

I noticed the same thing. Although I personally don't find it a deal-breaker. I think the culprit is the fact that from my research Bose now has noise-cancellation microphones not only inside but outside of the earcups on the CQ15's, whereas the QC2's only had microphones inside the cups. The problem seems most pronounced on the CRJ during takeoff when you have lots of air coming out of the gasper vents. I like to position the vent to blow directly on my face and I think the high velocity of the air as it blows past the external microphone is causing the issue. To be honest with you after only a few trips I got used to it and now I don't even notice it anymore.

I still think overall the 15's have far superior noise-cancellation than the 2's and am quite happy with the setup.

I traded in my 2s for the 15s and haven't had any problems at all. They seem to seal very nicely (better than the 2s with my sunglasses) and are noticeably quieter. Flying an MD80... Not sure if airplane type has anything to do with your issue...

It's the Q400 so it's defiantely got more bumps, thumps and vibrations. I will say that the new ones I exchanged the first QC15s for seem to fit and seal better. Hoping that was the ticket.

Maybe one of the legal types can clarify but my understanding is the headset TSO thing does not really apply to most airliners. Most of the airliners are certified using the cockpit speakers and the handheld mike for communication. The feds require a boom mic (hands free) during critical phases of flight. This is why we can take off our headset en-route but wear them during terminal ops. Seeing that the UFM microphone meets the fed’s requirement the UFM/BOSE system is legal because the cockpit speaker is certified as the primary means (if a fed is onboard turn the speaker on). Now if your aircraft is certified using headsets (i.e. you cannot legally remove your headset en-route) then you are required to have a TSO’d headset (take the ear buds).

I also noticed on the Uflymike website that they say only the QC2 and not the QC15 is currently part of the TSO's combo. I thought it was just the earbud and boom mike that made that up and not the headset part. Kinda odd.

Battery Life?

For those of you using the new 15's how does battery life compare to the QC2? Wondering if it is decreased due to the new external mic inputs.

Thanks

so from what I read so far it does not sound like its worth it to trade in my QC2's for Qc15's
