Completely agree. Well said.

The answer is JetBlue Express (E190)!!!

The 190 is a narrow-body jet just like the DC-9. It is not a regional jet even though the ATA wants it to be to keep pilot wages down.

Is the best commuter the one with the blue shirts or the one with the orange airplanes?

Bamauofa 09-14-2009 09:28 AM

I am waiting on someone to say GoJets. Too bad. I agree the last one you work for is the best.

Based on paychecks (which is definitely what I work for) the one with orange airplanes.

GoJets... :D

...is not the best regional to work for IMO.

Well, the best regional is the one that provides me with the best job stability. A good contract and this and that is no good if you are furloughed. That being said and basing this comment on the information on the airline pilot central info. SKYWEST would be my pic. Almost 3k pilots and 0 furloughs I think shows some good working bases.

Thats just my opinion...but im sure theres a lot I'm not aware of.....so...

C ya!;)

I regret not going to the other regional(s); funny though, at the time the others didn't offer me a job. So I went with the one that offered a job. It's pretty good. Since I still have a job.

I agree. You're not in such a bad spot either.

sigh.. am I the only one depressed by this thread? Comparing regionals is like comparing prostitutes. How about a thread on the lowest paid hookers, that would be more interesting.

...and not IAW TOS and would lead to the deletion of your post and possibly the closing of the thread. So let's not take this thread down that road please! ;)

This actually made me chuckle. C'mon CGT pilot, here at JB Express the four-leg, 5-hour block days sure feel an awful lot like working at a commuter... I like the blue shirts. Hide stains and wrinkles better.

colinflyin 09-15-2009 07:03 AM

No regionals are good. O yea and JetBlue is not a regional. You fly at the regionals to get to the majors simple as that.

ovrtake92 09-15-2009 05:49 PM

My money is on Great Lakes! You get in, get out, and when you move on you're like the fat girl at the party, grateful for whatever you can get!
Oh and not a bad place to get turbine PIC either.

That’s an easy question to answer, REPUBLIC.

funny, Republic has to be close to the bottom (eg. $37 top FO pay, no trip guarantees, no retirement,...)

I actually started a comprable thread...got shot down.

Bottom line, the best regional is the one that gets you to the next level the quickest. If that's not an option, the best one is where you can still make a life if you get stuck i.e. Jetblue, Soutwest, Airtran. And yes they're regionals that happen to fly bigger airplanes with somewhat bigger paychecks.

I'm in my third year flying 50 seats and I've already passed the top of RAHs FO pay scale.......for 90 seats. Good Times.
