Whats the best regional?

This isnt bait, just wondering if anyone regrets goin with one company after seeing how another functions.

HIREME 09-12-2009 06:10 PM

define your question...depends on how you view best... Best performing:
PNCL/SKWST
Best Contract? I like Air Whisky
Best FA's? Toughy

TheBills 09-12-2009 06:11 PM

XJT, SKW, Air wisconsin. XJT has an awesome contract!

ImperialxRat 09-12-2009 06:12 PM

My regional is better than your regional.

Inconceivable 09-12-2009 06:23 PM

Whats the best regional?
The one you are able to leave for a legacy carrier, and the sooner the better.

Think of them like high school: best enjoyed in the rear-view mirror.

GrUpGrDn 09-12-2009 06:32 PM

almost like saying which one is the best ex-wife?

wonkable 09-12-2009 06:37 PM

my regional is the worst...I work for one

higney85 09-12-2009 06:42 PM

If I get a Pony... I gotta say mine has something NO other regional has..

Speaking on a more "serious and realistic" term I think there are a few great contracts, and pretty much each regional having 1 or 2 GREAT sections.

I like AWAC and XJet without concessions, I also like the FDX contract, and while we are at it the contracts from carriers flying the CR9 in what was known as a DC9-10 about 10-15 years ago. If you want to feel bad go look those up....and compare the rates and rules to what the aircraft of that size is operated at now by "regionals" that are operating routes that are only "regional" if states are continents.

Airliners.net thread of the day.

From what I've seen, there are three types of FA's. I like to call them the three G's: Ghetto, Granny, and Gay. :D

With that said, trying to decide the Best FA's amongst the Regional carriers is like... well, it's a waste of time. Granted a few misguided hotties do stumble through once and a while, usually for very short periods of time.

Jamers 09-12-2009 06:55 PM

Southwest Airlines

flycrj200 09-12-2009 07:26 PM

That’s an easy question to answer, REPUBLIC.

IFly17 09-12-2009 07:31 PM

MINE, MINE, MINE, MINE, MINE.

Not yours.

I would say the exact opposite...

Can someone paste or PM me the XJT contract. My guess is that there can always be improvement. Long call out reserve, more pay, 100% DH Pay, training pay, Block or better, scheduling, ect.

It's bait whether you intend it or not. But I'll bite anyways.:D No one can ever know which is the best regional, it all depends on the persons needs. If they were desperate, then I guess it would make it bad.

Yzerman 09-12-2009 08:50 PM

yes, not flamebait. just like the new thread about FAs

Our long call reserve is 12 hrs, Our pay even with concessions is still higher than mos regionals, We do get paid 100% DH, During training we Only receive Per Diem but they do pay for the hotel. We DO get block or better, we have an aggressive pick up window which is a great tool when you are one reserve. ECT.:)

That thread has been closed for lack of taste.
Let's make sure that we keep all threads within the TOS; this one included.

As far as XJT goes;

Long call reserve-YES. AWAC's is better
More pay-depends on how you look at it
100% DH pay-On CAL, XJT, and I believe Continental Connection carriers. Anybody else is scheduled block I believe. I'm sure I'll be corrected
Training pay-Again, depends on how you do it. Days off or days on? Train over a trip, pay protected for the HIGHER of the two. You can choose to train on days off for additional pay.
Block or better-Yes, on a leg by leg guarantee

CaptainCarl 09-12-2009 09:40 PM

Where is the TOS anyways? I'd like to give it the ol' once over again.

Edit: Nevermind. Found it.

Edit the Edit: Wait, is Terms and Conditions of Use the same as the Terms of Service. Because that's not what I remember reading the first time I joined APC.

Which fast food joint serves the best food?

CANAM 09-13-2009 05:08 AM

Best regional is Calm Air in Canada. Check out their payscale. INSANE!

powrful1 09-13-2009 05:08 AM

The best regional is the one you can get a job at, when all regionals are hiring then use your own criteria for that.

mwa1 09-13-2009 06:11 AM

Alaska Airlines - they just fly bigger planes

shamrok 09-13-2009 06:59 AM

No brainer.......Colgan

Intl Jumper 09-13-2009 07:23 AM

Deciding which regional is the best is like picking the smartest stripper...Sure you can choose one, but they are already dead inside.

Taco Bell...easy

wheresmyplane 09-13-2009 01:12 PM

Well, if it makes a difference, a lot of guys I know left the instructing gig at the same time, went to different regionals, and I'm the ONLY one that's furloughed now. I guess that means that my choice may not have been the best one.

CrippleHawk 09-13-2009 01:38 PM

Whats the best regional?

None are. They always tend to have an issue with one thing or another. and then blames it on the little guy. instead of taking responsability.

boosh 09-13-2009 04:38 PM

picking the best regional is like picking the smartest kid on the short bus.

flyboyPH 09-13-2009 05:17 PM

There are many different factors to this question. QOL,contract, pay, bases Take your pick.

Convairator 09-13-2009 05:28 PM

Asking which regional airline is the best is like asking what is the best condiment to put on a turd burger

Killer51883 09-13-2009 05:43 PM

the best regional is the one you can get home from the fastest.

cgtpilot 09-13-2009 05:47 PM

The best commuter is the last one you work for.

Jake Wheeler 09-14-2009 05:10 AM

JetBlue is one of the nicest commuters airlines, but I don't know if it is the best.

PM me your W-2 and we'll compare. I'll PM you mine from my previous life at Eagle plus my dirtbag RJ contract. Then we'll compare again. Have fun in Des Moines. How's the weather?

Btw I hope you picked your commuter wisely...we'll both be where were at for a long time...can you make a career at your commuter with your payscale and the equipment your flying?? Just saying.

RJSAviator76 09-14-2009 07:21 AM

Best commuter airline: ANY commuter airline overseas - at least they pay livable wages.

Best US commuter: GoJet, guys... c'mon!!! Everyone knows they're the envy of the industry hence the bashing. ;)
