An unprofessional assessment at best and a complete misunderstanding of how an ALPA MEC is organized at worst. Herb didn't reelect himself four times nor does a union turn on the actions of one representative. If anything was remiss in this situation it falls to those in charge: the membership.
We're not a top-down corporation or even an insurance company. We're a union. A group who's power and direction comes from the bottom up. If, like an irresponsible father who tosses his 16 year old son the keys to the car no questions asked, we do not monitor the activities of our elected reps, then we only have ourselves to blame. In my past 19 years as a union pilot, I've noticed an inverse correlation between the loudness a pilot screams about their union and their personal involvement in that same union. I am not screaming about the "union" here, please show me where I did. This is me stating my opinion about Herb as the MEC Chair plain and simple. His replacement Tony has consistently demonstrated his loyalty to the eagle pilots, first as the LEC Chair for LGA and now MEC Chair for EGL ALPA. One can hope he retains his head. Your immediate jump to conclusions simply tells me your ALPA panties are in a bunch. |

You prove my point in that Herb stacked the MEC with his cronies which allowed him to retain his control. His "leadership" was suspect at best.

Are you saying that if you or I were eligible and wanted to run for office, we couldn't because the cronies would conspire against us? Sorry, but I'm not buying the whole crony slander thing. |

Slanderous? Again I told you it was my opinion. That's it, pure and simple. Are you that naive to believe politicians, thats what our union leaders are, do not stack the decks in their favor? They're politicians, all of them: Midwest's included. My ALPA local isn't having infighting between the DFW CA Rep and the ORD FO Rep related to this very matter. Perhaps the ORD FO Rep agrees with my sentiments and was being threatened by the OLD guard.............. Good luck to Tony, you're in good hands with him. |

The difference is AMR, Inc. OWNS Eagle and thats a BIG difference. The 22 extra CRJ's (which truly were a mainline replacement aircraft at Eagle for the F100) still result in a net decrease of aircraft for Eagle due to the turboprops being parked.

While I agree with your sentiment, my point I am trying to make, is it SOMEONE is going to fly the 70 seaters it should be kept inhouse. If ever APA and EGL ALPA could get their ducks in order, a lot of good could happen. This wouldn't happen with APA and the CHQ IBT or TSA ALPA. |

Why is nobody griping about Eagle flying more larger aircraft and a FIRST CLASS SECTION?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Where is the outrage about mainline flying being stolen by Eagle? Doesn't this seem somewhat hypocritical?
