Well even if there are a couple pilots in the RAH group who say they will not fly the 190 for those rates, there will always be a line of dirt bags willing to fly it for any rate. Just start denying jumpseats. People keep bringing down the career and what else can you do about it?

I've read very few complaints from Republic guys. That disturbs me. All i've been reading here is their "justifications" for the new payrates (new rates being those 5-8yr scales).

I understand using an LOA as a band-aid. The problem is; after the full reconstructive surgery of a TA, the rates will be far below Midwest.

Sorry to all you Midwest guys. Sorry to all of us B scale regional guys.

"First Officer pay Rates for all aircraft types"

Does that mean Republic now has a pay rate (for FOs, anyway) for 100-seat jets?

Would it be a legal stretch to argue that there is now a Republic pay rate for the Airbus 319 as well?

I weep for the future of humanity AND the piloting profession after seeing that so many posters in this thread lack the neural synapses to understand that all this LOA would do is create payrates for years 5-8 on the FO longevity scale...

The FO payscale of their current CBA tops out at 4 years longevity; this LOA would extend that current-book payscale scale to 8 years longevity.

Why would anybody complain about that???

If approved by management, they've given up nothing and a few senior FOs gain what is basically a COL adjustment. Additionally, it wouldn't really affect negotiations for the new CBA going forward because all this amounts to is an extension of the current book rates.

Is that really so hard to understand?

I know you love to defend RAH, which is kind of weird because you never worked there other than an unpaid intern. But, actually the union was played on this one. Let me explain why.

There's a lot of pressure coming from the FAA and Congress as to how underpaid FOs are. I know that we haven't seen it, but trust me, it's coming (side note -- don't you think it was weird the company just gave IBT this pay raise?). By signing this LOA, the union lost all the leverage they had by having the payrates fixed at 4 years and the company looking poor in the eyes of Congress. Now they can say that they gave their pilots a 40% raise voluntarily -- the union just handed them this opportunity!

With the coming together of RAH, Frontier, and Midwest, plus all the pressure on the company from Washington, there could have been a solid chance to actually negotiate some decent pay rates for FOs. Or, the union could have used the absurdly low FO rates as leverage to speed up contract negotiations to get better pay rates for everybody as the company looked bad because of the negative press. But they caved on this one, and lost a decent opportunity in the process.
