S5 pullinng out of Hawaii

Whats the scoop? Heard this in Chi-town today.....

LAXSAAB 10-12-2009 07:26 PM

The company put out a memo confirming this. No news on whether or not they will be closing down the HNL ops for RAH. rumor is 145s to replace the 170's.

So now it becomes the war of the 50-seaters? Mesa v. RAH? Pass the popcorn.

Hopefully they bury each other.. Viva Aloha

Flyboyrw 10-12-2009 08:10 PM

Maybe they will send Q400s out there.

I thought I'd heard somewhere that the E170's were doing well out there?
I guess that's not the case.

Go Hawaiian! Get your A332's and A350's, replace your 717's down the road, and keep up your good services. Hopefully Hawaiian will continue to lead the way over there.

They better not.

One other thing to consider...

RAH may not be doing that poorly with the E170 in Hawaii, but they feel that those 3 planes could be BETTER utilized in support of the Midwest and/or Frontier operations. Mokulele could offer profit potential, but I think focusing on a potential 70-100 aircraft operation is far more pressing for RAH management. Since no mention has been made of ending Mokulele operations entirely, I assume some other airframe will be sent out to the islands. I would imagine 145's would be drafted, of only for the fact that RAH can easily come up with 3 or 4 145's that their mainline partners do not want. Q400's would make the most sense, but that would mean RAH would commit to keeping that fleet type, which would imply an overall increase in Q400 fleet size, and an announcement of new Q400 orders.

Agreed. Great Airline.

Don't know the official numbers for load factors, but you can see in the terminal that the flights seem to be very light for the most part.

I hope you are correct! I'm still hoping Lynx will have a class in Dec/Jan.

Of course, who wouldn't want to work for the lowest paid Q400 operator in the country.

Hey some of these kids will pay to fly. It beats flight instructing I guess.

I've been working as a CSA for F9 for almost 12 years...been a CFI for over two years. I've worked my way to over 1200 hours TT...right now I'd be quite happy flying the Q for Lynx. It beats being a CSA any day!

Oh, one more thing...Colgan pays less than Lynx!

Looks like GO will just be flying the jets out there now and Republic will be pulling out the 170's with Mokulele operating with Caravans.

I never saw this coming :) RJET and MAG working together.

hnldave 10-13-2009 09:49 PM

interesting. the commercials out in hawaii for mokulele tout the roomy, leather, first-class seats of the e170. thats really the only reason they had some riders. i wonder what the fate of the new go!mokulele will be.
